Hey Andrew

Well... I'm not quite sure how it all works, but I have Chrome installed on my Mac - maybe it's a special version.

I think I may have been granted an early use pass - I signed up here for it:

http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/mac.html

There are still a few small bugs, but overall, it seems to be a pretty cool browser for Mac.

Maybe sign up as well and then you may get invited too?

Best regards

Hey Gideon,

Thank for all the great tools.
But I'm not sure you're right about Google Chrome being supported by both PC and Mac.

I'm a Mac user and have been waiting for months for Google to release the Mac version.
In fact here's their page that says it's stil in development.
http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/mac.html

Have you somehow been able to install it on your system?
BTW do you run PC or Mac? I just assumed because of the large amount of video you do that you'd be on a Mac.

I just remembered something, an article I'd seen about using several Gmail accounts without keeping several browsers open... as you say you do.

Here it is:
http://mashable.com/2008/06/07/log-into-several-gmail-accounts-same-time/

Any of them should beat having to fill up memory with multiple browsers..

Yeah for sure! I often just use FireBug to quickly learn what makes a website look beautiful, especially if I just want to make a quick and easy change to something simple like a heading font for example.

Beautiful stuff...

Ah, thanks for the Firebug quickstart tips Gideon. Sometimes I just have very little patience for underdocumented open source apps... This one's worth the hassle I'd say. ;)

Lol!

Ok, once you have it installed into Firefox, look for the little bug at the bottom right hand corner of your browser and click on it...

That will open up the interface for FireBug...

Then, click on the 2nd icon from the left - the one with a little rectangular box and arrow in it...

Then if you hover over the page with your mouse pointer, you will see different areas getting highlighted...

And you will also see the code for those areas coming up in the Style box on the bottom right.

If you then click on any area, it will "freeze" the Style code for you that you can then either just copy and paste, or just copy manually into your css file.

Pretty nifty...

I feel really stupid now... I installed Firebug but can't figure out how to work it, or even get it launched! Maybe it's my relative newness to the Mac or something.. but I couldn't bother diving into the documentation for this...

Hey Tyrone

Yeah the Firebug plugin for Firefox is just excellent! I don't use it as much anymore now that I'm sourcing out my tech stuff. But when I was still mucking around with css code, it came in extremely handy.

Thanks for the other two resources! I'll check it out!

I like firebug myself. I have used it a lot on my websites and for analyzing my website. One plugin i use with firebug is page speed. It helps me in figuring out how i can boost my page load times etc. It is provided by Google and works really well!

Firebug is a GREAT find, I hadn't tried that before. Very useful.

For FTP, I prefer Cyberduck but again YMMV. ;)

Hey Gideon,

Thanks for the great tips and resources here. I also use most of what you have described here. There was one which is Firebug that I picked up from this presentation and I'm glad you talked about it. It will save so much time having to manually read through code. :)

There's another great editor I use that also highlights code nicely called EditPlus. Maybe for simple changes or simple text viewing this would be a handy software to have. Otherwise for Mac, (since now I've switched over), there's another software I found called Smultron. I saw it at the Lifehacker site:

Thanks again and keep these videos coming!
