Happy New Year!

As promised, I am giving you a tour of my new office!

Inside this video, I show you in detail how I have setup my workplace for maximum productivity. I am so excited to share with you my Video Production Studio, my work station and a few more areas inside my office that I use when I record videos.

The first few days of the new year have proven to be VERY productive for me indeed. Moving into a new office and having the right setup for my Video Production Studio has provided me the focus and clarity that I need for my business.

I am sure you will get tons of ideas on how you too could modify or improve your physical environment to take your business to a whole new level and get you the results you want.

What do you say about my new office? Please leave your comments below.

In my last video, I showed you my new office. Back then, it was in a very different shape as it is now. Since then I’ve given the place a paint job and moved things around a little bit to be a lot more optimal.

Inside this video I want to show you the layout and why I’ve got certain things in certain places; and how this is allowing me to pop out videos and content and be super productive much much more than I ever was before.

I’ll be taking the camera next and show you around the room, the whole layout and why I’ve got everything in certain spaces.

Alright, talk to you soon!

- - -

Here is the outside door of my office. I’m just going to walk in and take you through a quick journey or tour of the office. I’m standing right at the door. This is kind of what it looks like as you come. To my right, I’ve got my workstation. My work table, as you could see, is a standing desk. So there’s no chair there for me to sit on or be lazy.

Over here, I’ve got a nice little couch if I want to get lazy or take a nap … I currently have the old Aeron chair on there but frankly, I don’t actually use it that much. I might take it back home again.

Got my bookcase over here where I have all my business books stacked up. That’s not even all of them. But I’m still filling them up as I go.

Just having a quick look here at my whiteboard. That’s very important. This is a tremendous tool in my business. It’s about 3.6 meters long… Let me just see if I stand back so you can get a bit of perspective here. Yeah, it’s pretty big.

It’s right next to my little standing desk here so if I move back a bit, that’s where I’ll be standing and doing my work during the day. It’s pretty effective. I’ve got my computer here with my microphone that’s handy there to do webinars and talk on Skype, etc.

From time to time, I’ll grab my little Air laptop and do some stuff on the couch or go to the coffee shop and do some work there.

But this is sort of my work area where I spend quite a bit of time to get stuff done. Something really important that I want to show you here
(I’m just going to focus for a second. Let me just move back)… Here’s my planner.

I’m not sure what it’s going to look like over here. It might look a bit funny, cause it’s basically a bunch of squares and lines on a whiteboard type of surface. It’s just a laminated area.

This is where I plan out all my projects. It’s still at the beginning of the year so I still need to plan out a few things.

Okay, so this is where I get stuff done. This is how I try and be as effective as I can be.

Let’s have a look at the second part of my office now which is the Studio part.

If we walk in here… I’ll give you a bit of a pan of the area. This is where I record most of my videos. As you can see over here, there are two lights here. These lights are used for lighting up the background.

And what I’ve got here is pretty much just a white wall. I used to have a white sheet that I used but I’ve found that just a non-reflective paint works quite well for getting those nice white wall effect that I have on my videos.

Now, let’s move into the studio a little bit closer. Let’s get into if I stand in position. So this is where I’ll normally be standing when I’m recording. What you see there in front of you are two lights for lighting up the subject, which in this case will be me.

There’s also a teleprompter there that you see. Behind that would normally be the camera that I’m holding right now. The camera that I’m holding right now is a Canon 60D and I’m recording on a lapel mic, a Sony lapel mic which is the URX-P2 system, I believe. So that gives me a nice sound and really clear picture quality.

Over there is a little printer which is nicely out of the way. It is a wireless printer, that means I don’t have to have it on my desk to save some space.

To my left, just slightly behind me, is the one light that lights up the background. If I go back to my right is the other light lighting up the background.

So I’m kind of just standing in front of it… If I were to look at the white wall that’s right behind me. There’s the one light. There’s my feet. I’ll probably stand about in that position. There, you see the other light. I’ll just turn around again. Perhaps, I’ll have a plan view of this so you can see what I mean with my layout.

There’s one recording place or option. This is the way I’ve set this up so that I can have multiple recording options.

Another option is, I guess, for me to stand at my desk and kind of look back, maybe in an angle like this and look towards the camera. Do some sort of a recording show that I’m working on the computer.

Another one is where basically I’ll place the camera in pretty much this kind of position, maybe zoomed in more. Something like this. So that I’ll be sitting on the chair or a couch and have the nice bookcase as the background.

So there are now three different recording scenarios that I can have here. And a fourth one… This is something that I still need to build in. It’s once again on the couch (let’s just zoom out a bit), but this time have a nice background.

I’m looking for a nice background that I can put here, maybe like a brick background or some sort of nature scene, or something that will look nice while I’m sitting on the couch as a background.

That’s it! Back to me sitting on this chair, recording in the third position.

- - -

So, what did you think? Do you think this is something that you can implement in your own home? Perhaps at your own office, perhaps you could set aside an area in your home or at your office where you can dedicate it to content creation; whether it’s content for YouTube, content for products, content for marketing.

Think about it. If you have a dedicated space like this, how much easier it will be for you to just dominate.

Being in the field of online video marketing for years, I have been asked many times about options for web video production. A lot of people have simply dropped the entire idea thinking that it’s hard, expensive and time-consuming.

Inside this video, I reveal four options for creating videos online quickly, easily and hassle-free. You can choose which method to use, depending on your situation, your budget and the kind of videos you want.

Can you think of other easy and inexpensive options for web video production? Please share your ideas by leaving your comments below.

Click Here To Read The Transcript

Hi!

Are you thinking about web video production, but you’re thinking it’s too hard, too expensive and it takes too long? Well, I’ve got some really cool options for you that’s going to really make your day!

- - -

Welcome! My name is Gideon Shalwick. Inside this video, I’m going to show you four ways that you can create videos online to really make your life a lot easier.

By the end of this video, you’ll have a really good idea of all the different methods you can use for creating your own videos and you’ll realize that it’s actually quite straightforward. And it doesn’t have to be very expensive to do it at all.

Option 1: Do It Yourself

The first method that I want to share with you is the DIY method (Do It Yourself). This is how I’ve started doing it and this is how many other people online do it as well.

Basically, what you need is a little camera that’s optimized for the internet. One that I recommend is the Kodak Zi8. The camera that I record with right now is Canon 60D. But there’s a bunch of other video cameras you can record with as well.

Look for cameras that can record in .mov or .mp4 format and watch for an external microphone jack. You should be getting a pretty good camera for that purpose.

Now, if you want to do the editing for that as well. A great PC software that I recommend for that is Sony Vegas Studio HD; great piece of software. And if you own a Mac, a really great piece of software that I recommend for that is Screenflow. It does both screen capture and videos like this.

That’s the do-it-yourself method; but of course if you don’t want to learn it all yourself, it may be not a great option for you.

Option 2: Hire A Pro

The next option is to hire a professional. Now, this is what a lot of more successful companies do, companies with more deep pockets, companies who can afford a professional video production crew.

For this, you’ll need someone local where you live or run your business. You’ll need to find someone in your local area that can come and record the videos for you, do the editing and interface with you to get the final product.

Of course, it’s going to be a lot more expensive but hey, if you’ve got the money, then it can be very fast and a great option for you to get those great results.

Option 3: Hire A Film Student

But if you’re on a budget and you still want to have a semi professional result. The third option is to hire a film student. What you do is you go around to film schools and those kinds of places where there are film students. And you advertise for a position in your company or for some casual work in your company to do some online or web video production for them.

Doing it this way, you can get away with much more affordable rates and you get someone who knows the game when it comes to web video production. And they’ll be able to get the work done for you at fairly affordable rates.

Of course, the trade off with this system or this method is that the video result may not be as great as you would expect. That’s the third option.

Option 4: Outsource It

The fourth option, which is a good one too, is to outsource your video production to other countries. This can be very affordable but it comes with its own challenges. Basically, this is where you find a video editor in another country like the Philippines, Thailand, Ukraine or many other different countries, or India for example.

You can get some really good results here. One of the main challenges with this is that the file sizes that you have to deal with are crazy. So if you are recording your own videos like this, or someone comes into your business to do the video recording, it can be difficult to get those files over to these other countries.

One way is just to simply send it overseas on an SD card or a DVD. Another way is to upload it to a server, but of course that can kill your internet broadband and also the person whose going to do the editing for you.

Summary:

So those are four options. Either you do it yourself. It’s got a bit of a learning curve and it can take you well. Can be a little frustrating but can be very affordable. Second option is a professional one. Much more expensive but you can get stuff done a lot quicker and get a really professional result.

The next option from that is getting film students which they can still get you pretty professional results but much more affordable. And the fourth option - with outsourcing, it’s very affordable; you can get really good results. But it comes with its own challenges.

So, that’s the web video production side of it. Of course, there’s more to web video production than just that. If you’re getting into video, you might want to think about promoting your business using online video as well.

For that, what I recommend you do is download my free Rapid Video Blogging Report where I show you how I use video to help promote my business, how to get a ton of leads into my business every single day. I’m sure you’re going to love it. It’s 92 pages, packed full of really powerful information.

All you’ve got to do to get a copy of this Report is to click on the link below this video. That’ll take you to the page where you can optin to download the Report.

It also comes with seven extra video lessons, part of a Mini Course that shows you how I use video to promote my business and you can do it too.

Thank you so much for watching. I really hope you enjoyed this video. I look forward to interacting with you inside my other products and videos.

Sometimes it’s just nice to create some great looking videos. Like the kind of videos that Apple creates - yeah those ones with the beautiful pure white backgrounds with superb clarity! Somehow, having a nice clear and clean white background just makes your video look so much more professional.

Today’s video shows how to pull it off on a reasonably affordable budget. I show you what I use, and then I also talk about some other even more affordable options.

It’s just proof once again that you don’t need to spend tens of thousands of dollars on setting up your own studio to be able to create professional looking videos.

Another great benefit of having a clear white background is that it removes clutter, and “opens up” more space for you to add other stuff into. For example, whenever you want to make a point, you can easily pop up some text on the white background. Or you could even have pretty pictures pop up on the background. Either way, whatever you put on the background stands out a lot more and provides for a lot more professional look.

The bottom line is that the more professional your videos look, the better chance you have of influencing your audience. The point of all this “professional” stuff is not to create editing that will “wow” people, but more to remove any distractions, and thereby creating laser focus on your message.

Then, all that is left, is to make sure your actual content is compelling! But that’s a topic for another video…

So, how do you like my new background?—the white one back there. Now, it’s not actually a green screen. I’m not doing anything fancy here with the editing or with the software. It’s purely just white background.

Now, it’s not always easy to get this kind of effect. But if you have the right equipment, which is quite affordable and you can get away with quite affordable equipment; you can get this effect really nicely.

And what’s cool about this effect is that it gives you obviously a really nice and professional look to your videos. Companies like Apple have done this really well when I do these interviews with their product designers and with everybody on the team. And they have this really nice white background that allows them to create this purity. And it’s clean, no frills type of videos.

So I will show you inside this video my new studio set up which is inside my house. There’s still a lot of junk in the studio. It’s more like a studio. It’s more like a garage. It’s the garage that I’ve just set up with some interesting things. So this is just early days and hopefully as I go through the process of setting this up, I’ll be documenting this for you so that you can do something similar in your own garage. I’ll show you a bit of a tour of what I’ve got and show you how you can get this sort of effect.

Talk to you soon.

———————

Okay. This is the white background, without me on it, and I want to show you the set up that I have. Over here I’ve got two lights. There’s one light there. And these are fluorescent lights—one on that side and if you go to the other side, there’s another one there. They’re exactly the same. Let me just see if I can come around here and see if you can just see what they’re like. They’re pretty bright lights and basically, what they’re doing is they’re shining on top of this white screen that I have here.

Now, it’s actually just a screen that I’ve stuck on to the wall, as you can see here. I went to buy this screen actually from a video shop. But there’s no reason why you can’t just use any kind of white screen that you can find in your house—even maybe a bed sheet that could do the job. Something that’s kind of white or pretty close to white. So I’ve just put it up on the wall. Pretty basic stuff as you can see. I mean you’ve never sort of expected this kind of basic technology if you saw just the final product of the video.

Anyway, in the back of me, normally this is where I’d be standing. As you can see this is just in the garage and what you see there is the tripod where the camera normally sits. Now, I’ve got the camera on my hands. So you can’t see the camera. But that is the tripod. So it’s purely just standing there.

And then I have one more light sitting here just next to the camera. You can possibly use two lights to get this sort of effect but I found one light is fine. And you know, I’m recording this at night. So what’s cool about this set up is that you can record at any time during the day.

So perhaps what I’ll do next is just quickly draw you a picture of the lay-out — the plan view of all these components so that it’s very clear for you to see how it all fits together.

So I will show you what I’ve got set up for my own situation here. But of course, you can just use this as input for your own situation. So this is my garage. Say, this is something that represents my garage. The place where I have the screen is over here. So this is the screen - kind of sitting right over there. My camera is sitting about over here. So you need some good distance for it. So that’s the camera. I’m obviously not a good camera drawer. But anyway, that’s the camera.

Then I have two lights here. So there’s one light here and there’s another light here and the job of these lights is to shine nice, bright light onto this white background. It kind of over exposes it.

But I have another light here and the purpose of this light is to shine light on me, or if there’s another thing that you’re recording. Now if you want to, you can also get another light here that does the same thing. But I found just one of these is good enough especially if you angled it kind of close—you have it close to the camera. So your angle is not quite 45. It’s more like 20 or 30 degrees. Anyway, so I’ve got this set up just for this one light and with the camera over here. So that’s what it looks like looking from the top.

———————

Ok. So what do you actually need to be able to pull this off in a nice way? What I’ll firstly do is tell you about the equipment that I’m using to get this effect and then I’ll explain some other ways that you can do it that’s maybe more affordable.

What I basically have are three lights. So I’ve got a light over there—that is shining lights on to me or the subject or the thing or person that you’re recording. Then I also have two lights behind me. There’s one back there and one right back there—another fluorescent light. So all three of these are professional fluorescent lights. Each one is about $400. So they’re not cheap lights. But you can use just normal fluorescent lights as well, depending on the kind of camera that you’re using because sometimes there’s a bit of a flicker issue. But if you’ve got the right kind of camera, it shouldn’t be an issue.

The camera that I’m using for this recording is a Canon 60D which is just an amazing camera for recording short clips. It can only record for about 12 minutes at a time. But that’s not really a problem because you just press Start and Stop and then keep going. Stop and Stop, wherever you are in the sequence.

The other bit of equipment that I’ve been using, of course, is my Macintosh computer with ScreenFlow as the editing software. Now because this is so nicely set up, I don’t actually have to do much in the software to get this effect. The recording that I put into the software—the footage already looks great because I’ve got it set up like this.

Now, on this particular camera I’ve just set the ISO to Auto and it seems to do a great job. If you somehow have a problem with the white background there not being white enough, you can increase the ISO to higher levels. You may need to play around with this a little bit to get this sort of effect.

If you’re using a camera like a Flip for example or the Kodak Zi8, it may be a little bit more tricky to get this sort of effect. But all you need to do in the software is increase your brightness or the gamma or the contrast. And maybe you need to play around with those settings individually. Just search for them inside the software. They’re not too difficult to find. Normally it’s the brightness and you may just be able to increase the brightness slightly to increase the exposure of the background so it’s nice and white.

So there you have it.

———————

There you go. It’s pretty easy. It’s not very complicated at all. You mainly do invest in some good lights and the right kind of camera and maybe a white background or you can just paint it white if you don’t have a sheet like I’ve got. But really, it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money.

One of the biggest issues my students always tell me about with “Flip” style cameras (Flip Ultra HD, Kodak Zi8 and other similar cameras), is that you can’t see the viewfinder while recording yourself… unless you have super bionic powers and can see around corners! While I don’t have super bionic powers, I think I’ve stumbled upon a pretty neat little solution (the whole thing actually came to me inside a dream… believe it or not!) for the Flip video camera viewfinder fix.

Using the solution inside today’s video is powerful, yet very effective. It’s a great solution because:

It’s super easy to implement

It should only take you about 10 - 20 minutes to create

It will only cost you around 10 bucks - or even less!

And it will make your life much easier while recording videos!

Perhaps you’ve also had this very same issue that I’ve identified inside today’s video, and you may even have found your own solution? If so, please leave your comment. Or just leave your comment in any case if you think this is a cool little solution to make your camera a whole lot more useful!

PS: Of course this solution works with ANY camera that does not have the flip’able viewfinder thingee… I use it on my Canon T2i 550D camera (the camera I used for recording this whole video) - works fantastic! Also, let me know what you think about this Flip video camera viewfinder fix ok?

Let me guess one of the big problems you might have with flip style cameras-either the flip or something like the Kodak Zi8. They are great little cameras except that it can only see the front of them when you’re standing in front of them. In other words, you can’t see the back of them when you’re standing in front of them—ok that’s kind of obvious.

But this is particularly important. You want to be able to see the back when you’re recording from the front and because it doesn’t have a nice little flip screen you can’t see the actual view finder on the back. Same for both the Kodak, the flip camera and similar cameras like that.

So that’s the problem if it’s just you and there’s no camera man and you want to be doing recording and it’s a big hassle to go backwards and forwards to test recordings to make sure that you’re in the right position inside the screen. And it can be very frustrating.

I’ve got some really good news for you though because I found a really simple and affordable solution too and because I know if you’re using the flip or the Kodak Zi8 that you like affordable solutions that are simple as well.

So I will show you something that I’ve created myself and cost me less than $10 to create and it only took me—I don’t know if you count going to the shop as well maybe an hour or up. If you don’t count the shop maybe it’s only 10-15 minutes to create this solution.

I will show you the solution for how you can actually see the back of your camera without walking and/or looking from towards the back. I hope you get what I’m saying. You’ll see the solution very soon. It’s very cool. It’s very simple. It’s very affordable and I know you will love it. Next stop, I’ll show you the solution.

So there you go. That is the solution in a nutshell. I have my little flip camera over there on my tripod. And I have a little mirror in the background. How cool is that? It’s as simple as that. That is really my solution. And the mirror is sitting on the back of the handle of my tripod. Let’s walk in and see a little bit closer.

So there’s my little trusty flip. Beautiful on camera, with it’s viewfinder in the back which is often a bit of an annoyance if you’re standing in front it recording. Then I’ve got my little tripod here. As you can see, it’s just one of the Sony tripods. And just at the back of it, I’ve got this contraption here which is pretty simple. Let me go on the other side so you can see that as well. So all it is, is a shaver’s mirror or a make-up mirror that I’ve stuck unto a piece of cardboard—you know one of those rolls that you have in tin foil over quite often. And I stuck it using some duct tape.

It’s a pretty cool solution. And then I just basically pushed this whole thing unto the back of my tripod handle and twisted the handle up a little bit so that when I move back here in front of the camera, over there, you will see that it’s all beautiful. I can actually see the viewfinder now.

Let me just turn it on so that you can see. There you go. Now it’s on. I can look straight into the camera. And now there you’ll see the viewfinder now is in focus. You can actually see me with my little DSLR camera. And when I’m ready, I can position myself so I could tell any to get a little bit closer for example. And there you can see the viewfinder-maybe I want to be a little bit to the left. Once I’m ready, I can just go ahead and hit the record button and there it goes. So now I can record with my little flip camera and now I’m exactly at the right spot to be doing the recording. How cool is that?

Next, I’ll quickly show you the main components of what I used for putting together this little solution.

Ok let’s look in a little bit more detail on what you actually need to put all these together. You need some duct tape. You need a pair of scissors—not really required but good if you have them. You need one of these things which are a very simple shaver’s mirror or make-up mirror. As you can see, it’s only worth about $2 of $3. You need one of these things which is a—I just grabbed this from the tin foil rolls, got rid of the tin foil. And of course you’ll need a tripod with a handle like this—a handle that can rotate.

It’s important that you get these ones, if you don’t have them already. Or you’ll have to make a plan if your tripod doesn’t do this solely. This happens to be an adjustable little handle that allows me to adjust it, move it up and down, basically, rotate it around like that. Because it’s on a bend, it allows me to get different angles here so I can rotate 360 degrees this way. And with my solution with this little mirror, it can go this way as well. So it means I can basically set up my mirror at any angle that I want—very cool.

Now, what’s also cool about this mirror is that it’s got this magnified version as well as just the normal version on the other side. I used the magnified one because it means I see a bigger picture on my viewfinder when I see the image. This little mirror is pretty cool.

It’s only 3 bucks. And so if you look at what I did here, it’s basically just attaching this little mirror here with the duct tape. First of all, I’ve put my strip over there and then I just wrapped the duct tape around the edges and in the middle. It’s very straight forward nothing to fancy. And that’s it.

Once you’re done with that, you can basically just stick this, the end of the handle, on to this roll and make sure that it works. So that’s pretty easy to do. Just try to stay in the view. And that’s basically it. We need to position it to be at the right angle so that you can see the viewfinder. It’s very straightforward. You can make it look prettier. I haven’t even gone too much trouble to make this look pretty.

That’s basically it in a nutshell. It’s really that simple and it’s very portable too. It’s cheap. It’s portable, quick and easy to make and very cool. It gives you that flexibility to see your viewfinder. Now, if you’ve liked this video and you want to find out more tips and strategies on how to use online video to help you grow your business, I have actually created the free report called Rapid Video Blogging.
I’ve had this question maybe a thousand times: “Which camera is the best camera?”

And it’s always kinda hard to give a straight answer.

The thing is, there are simply SO many different cameras out there, and each one of them pretty much has it’s own purpose. For example, some cameras are more appropriate for TV, while others are more appropriate for personal home videos. Etc, etc, etc…

So, today I talk about two fantastic little cameras that do a GREAT job *for their intended purpose*! It’s the Kodak Zi8 Vs Flip!

Maybe you’ve had some experience with one or both of these two cameras and you can share some of your ideas with the rest of us?

Looking forward to hear from you!

Hi, Gideon Shalwick here…

One of the questions I get most often is “What camera to use for online video?”. Well there is a simple answer to that. It really depends on what you trying to achieve online.

There are basically a million different answers or a million different question when it comes to cameras and there are so many cameras to choose from and it’s actually quite daunting. What I tried to do is I tried it to really make it simple.

I teach a method called Rapid Video Blogging which allows you to create videos super fast and help you get results rapidly that’s where the rapid comes from.

There are 2 cameras in particular that is at the top of my list for rapidly creating videos and it’s for particular kind of video. The 2 cameras that I’m talking about are the Flip Ultra HD camera and also the Kodak Zi8.

They’re very similar in terms of performance but I want to do a quick review of both of them and compare the 2 so you could see the difference between them and also my preferences and maybe you got your own preferences too.

I just want to say that these cameras are good for what they are being used for, and that is for creating videos rapidly for the internet. So they are not used for creating hollywood type videos, they are not used for creating huge long, hour long, 2 hour long, 3 hour long videos. They are great for those short quick clips on YouTube and for getting nice and clear quality videos and getting them up really quickly.

So without further adou, let me do a quick review for these two cameras so that you can get the feel for the differences between them.

First thing I want to talk about is the video quality. For both of them I think they perform actually quite similar. The Flip Ultra HD records is 720p which is great for the internet, in fact that is HD for YouTube and the Kodak Zi8 records in 720p as well but you do have the option to go up to 1080p as well. So in terms of size the Kodak wins but in terms of actual video quality when you play back on the internet it’s pretty similar there’s not too much difference between the two. So that’s in terms of video quality, I think they are pretty much equal in that sense.

The second thing I want to look out is the sound quality of the two cameras and in that department I think the Kodak wins and the reason for that is because it has a little external microphone jack that you can plug a power microphone for example. That’s really handy if you are a little bit further away from the camera and you still want to have a good sound.

Of course the Flip camera does not have an external mic jack. So you kind of stuck with the sound that you get from the camera but there is a fix. What I normally do is I use an external voice recorder. I plug a little power microphone into that and I record the sound separately.

One of my favorites is the Edirol voice recorder from Roland and it does a fantastic job, it’s quite expensive about 500 bucks so it’s not a great entry level product. But there’s plenty of other voice recorders around that can do a very similar job. So I record that separately and just match up the sound afterwards during the editing and that fixes the sound for the Flip.

So the Kodak wins there but you can fix the flip with another voice recording device.

What about file format and the storage of the two cameras. Well the Flip camera has it’s little flip thing over there so it’s very easy to get the files to your computer. It records in mp4 format and that works on both pc and mac. It’s great format for editng on most editing programs and it pretty much just works in most applications. The Kodak records in a MOV format and it does have some space to record on the camera itself but mostly you record on an SD drive with SD card, like this over here. You can go upto 32 gigabytes with that. So that’s pretty cool, it will give you a little more option to record longer files if you want to and more footage.
Also it has it’s old USB thing to plug in to your computer. It’s not as nice as the Flip camera to use, not as easy but it does give you that extra features as well. The Flip on the other hand only records upto 8 gigabytes as a maximum and it just records straight on the camera so you don’t have the option of the SD card. So in that department I think the Kodak is winner there if that’s important to you. For my situation, I don’t really care cause most of my videos are only about 10 minutes long in any case so I don’t need to record really long videos or a lot of videos and seriously 2 hours is long enough to record for me on this little camera.

What about ease of use? How easy to use the 2 different cameras? Well both of them are actually really easy to use but in terms of winning in my mind at least, I think the Flip takes the prize. There are only 4 buttons in total on the camera and the main one is the big red one for recording, starting and stopping. You can also play back and delete and there is an On/OFF switch as well and of course the navigation buttons too. But it’s really really simple to use, It’s very straightforward. Almost impossible to do something wrong with this camera it’s really just point and shoot you just turned it on press the record and your ready to go.

With the Kodak on the hand, it’s little bit more complicated. It has a whole bunch more features to confuse you but also to give you extra functionality. But it’s not as easy to use, it got a whole bunch of buttons on the back. It takes a little bit of time to figure out what are all the buttons do. It’s not a big deal if you like extra features then Kodak is a nice option for that sort of thing. But in my view, in terms of ease of use, the Flip takes the price for that.

Finally I want to talk about the look and feel for the camera, which may not be as important for you but for me it is. There’s one thing about the Flip that I really like and that is it has a flat bottom surface. They both have a little area where you can screw that into a tripod which is pretty cool. The problem with the Kodak though, it doesn’t have a flat bottom so you can’t stand it up on a table or something if you don’t have a tripod with the Flip you can. The Flip in terms of design, for me is much better fit. It fits really nicely into your hands. It got nice rounded corners, it’s just the right size for me that’s why I don’t like the mino as well but the Flip camera is great in terms of just the way it looks and feels.

The Kodak once again is not as user friendly in terms of flat surface there and it’s quite thin and I think it’s easy to drop. That’s maybe a subjective thing and you might think differently but that’s how I perceived the difference between the two.

There’s one more thing that I want to talk about that is quite important and that is the battery use or the power for the two different devices. For the Flip Ultra HD, I really love that you can have a rechargeable battery pack that’s 2 AA size batteries. What that means is, yes you can recharge those ones but you can also use normal AA batteries when those run out of juice. That’s very cool specially if you’re out on the field, and your recording and you run out of battery power just take a few AA batteries with you and replace them and your ready to go again. The Kodak on the other hand comes with a rechargeable battery that is not your standard sizes. So that’s a little bit of pain if you run out of power you ought to need the exact one of those ones or your stuck.
I think they are quite cheap to replace anyway but it’s still not nice as AA size batteries that you can get with the Flip. And that’s another reason why I recommend the Flip Ultra HD as oppose to the Flip mino because you have that nice option with the batteries.

Overall you might guess that my choice is the Flip Ultra HD camera and you know they are basically quite similar. I mean there’s not too much difference in terms of performance, in terms of ease of use, in terms of recording and getting the files into your computer and editing it. One thing I must say about the Kodak that I just noticed with one of my members is that it doesn’t work straight on PC with Sony Vegas. You first need to convert the files into different format before you can do the editing properly on Sony Vegas and that’s a bit of a pain because it adds the extra step on the process whereas the FLip it just works straight off.

So that’s a quick review, a quick comparison between a Flip Ultra HD and the Kodak Zi8 . Once again they are both great cameras, they both do a really fantastic job for you. Bottomline for me it’s the FLip Ultra HD it’s just because there’s a number of things that I prefer and it’s super simple to use.

I hope you found that a useful review of the two little cameras and I hope that it makes easier for you to decide between the two cameras or whether any of them is appropriate on what you want to do online.

Hi and welcome to this video. Inside this video I’d like to talk about how you can record, edit, export, and upload your video to YouTube and get it onto your website.

If you’ve been following the previous videos inside this series, you’ll know all the equipment you’ll need to be able to record your online video, and you’ll also know how to go through the proper presentation if you’re creating a sales video.

So inside this video I’m going to go into a little bit more detail and talk about:

How to record your video

How to edit your video

How to export it to the right format

How to get it onto YouTube

Aand then get it onto your website so that other people can watch your video

Let’s get into the first point…

How To Record Your Video

The first tip is to think about how to set up your camera. One thing that I always talk about is that it’s important to think about your background.

In this case I’m using a fairly simple and clear background, because I don’t want to distract people with a bunch of other things. It also allows me to put images or text up on this side to help prove my point or to support whatever I’m talking about.

Now it may be different for your situation, and you may want to have other things there, like nature scenes or whatever. It’s up to you, but think about your background. That’s the point I’m trying to make here. Make sure it’s appropriate for your video.

The other thing to think about in terms of set-up is your lighting. In this particular case I’m recording inside a studio and I’m actually using two lights. There’s a light over there and there’s another light over there, and they’re both at about 45 degree angles from where the camera is. The camera’s over there, of course, where you are. So in my case I’m using two lights to help me light up my face and to make sure that the video quality is good enough.

You may be recording during daytime or in a room where there’s lots of natural light, or you may not and need lights, or you may be recording outside, in which case you probably also don’t need any lights.

In any of these cases, just make sure that whatever you’re recording is getting enough light, because that can help you get the quality of your recording much, much better.

Another little tip for when you’re recording is to leave pauses right before you start talking and also right at the end. What this does is it helps you during the editing phase to easily fade in and fade out, or cuts when you’re moving clips around.

It just helps you in the editing phase to make sure that you don’t cut your voice off at the beginning or at the end, so leave pauses before you start talking and also at the end. Just keep looking at the camera, pause for a couple of seconds, and it just helps a lot during the editing phase – trust me.

Editing Your Recordings On Your Computer

If you’re using any of the cameras I recommended inside one of the previous videos, it’ll be pretty straightforward because all of them require a USB connection to your computer.

All you do is plug the camera into the USB port of your computer and transfer those files onto your computer. The next stage is to get those files into your editing program, and you simply open them up inside your editing program and then you’re ready to start editing.

For editing, here are a few little tips that will help your video come across a lot more professional. The first thing is the use of titles. This is not critical, but it can help you come across a little bit more professional, so look for the titles function inside the software that you’re using, the software that I recommended previously.

Just add one at the beginning of your video and throughout your video if you want to make certain points, and maybe at the end as well when you call people to action and you tell them where to go, to a certain website for example.

The other thing you can use is fade-ins and fade-outs. This is just a really nice easy way to make your video come across a little bit more professional. It’s very, very simple to add a little one- or two-second fade-in at the beginning and a fade-out at the end.

I often do this with my YouTube videos, where I’m a little bit lazy and I don’t want to do any fancy editing, and often that’s all I need to make my video look really, really good.

Another thing you can do is to add cuts inside your video to have those instant zoom-ins and zoom-outs. This can create the perception that you’re using more than one camera. It will also make your videos come across a lot more professional.

All you’ve got to do here is inside the track for your video, to make a cut you zoom in for however long you want to, you make another cut and zoom back out again. It’s really as simple as that. A lot of people often thought that I was using more than one camera, but it’s really just me zooming in and out during the editing phase.

Finally, if you want to add a little bit of extra pizzazz to your video, you can add a music track at the beginning and at the end. This is really easy to do. All you’ve got to do is add it and add a fade-out at the beginning, and at the end you add it again with a fade-in and louder music towards the end. Often using a bit of music can make your videos come across a little bit more professional as well.

Once again, it’s not essential. At the minimum all you really need is a fade-in and fade-out and that already will make your videos look a lot more professional.

Once you’ve edited your video, the next step is to…

Export Your Video To The Right Format

This is very, very important to export it to the right format. Otherwise, the quality of your videos won’t be all that good if you get it wrong.

It’s a little bit technical to show you on here, so I’ve created a special page that shows you all the different settings that I used for the different pieces of software, and you can get this for free. You don’t even have to opt in for it. I’ve created this special page at www.RapidVideoBlogging.com/exportsettings. There’s a page there with all the different settings for all the different software that I recommend.

Upload Your Video To YouTube

Once you’ve exported your video to the right format with the optimum settings, you’re ready to upload it to the internet. For this I recommend you use YouTube. If you haven’t got an account yet, just go here and create one. It’s 100% free and that will allow you to upload your exported video file to your YouTube account, which then will allow other people to watch your video.

The next thing is to…

Embed Your Video On Your Website Or Sales Page

So the final stage is to embed your YouTube video on your website or your sales page, depending on how you’re using it.

This is really straightforward. All you’ve got to do is go to the YouTube page for your video, and right below your video on YouTube look for the embed code. It can be a little button or maybe a link, depending on when you’re watching this video.

YouTube often changes the interface, but look for the embed code right below your video or on the same page where your video is. You can basically copy and paste that code into your website or your sales page.

There are just a couple settings you can use to optimize your embed code for your YouTube video. The first one I recommend you do is to uncheck the box that says ‘Related videos.’

This will remove the related videos at the end of your video once it’s finished playing, so that when people are finished watching your video they won’t click on it and go away, leaving your website or your sales page. This is pretty important. If you uncheck that box, all it will do is have a link there that says ‘Replay video.’ It’s very, very cool.

Of course the other setting you can change there is the size of your video. Think about your website and how big that is, and select the optimum size. Normally I try to select the biggest possible size, because you might as well go as big as you can. Of course make sure it still fits into the normal web browser and that it looks good for your website.

That’s really it. That’s all you need to know for creating your own online video and getting it onto your website. I hope you’ve enjoyed this short video series and that you’re able to use it. My recommendation is to really just get started.

At the beginning it might be a little bit tough to go through the process and you might think it’s difficult, but trust me, the second, third, and fourth time it’ll be a lot easier, and after awhile you’ll wonder why you ever thought it was difficult. It’s very, very straightforward.

If you’d like to find out how I make a six-figure income with online video, I’ve created a special free report that you can download at www.RapidVideoBlogging.com. Inside the report I talk about how I create massive amounts of traffic back to my site, how I build my email list, and how I monetize my online videos as well. Just go to www.RapidVideoBlogging.com to get access to my free report.

Thank you for watching and I’ll see you inside my next video.
