Handy Content Creation Tip – How To Use Structure To Guide Your Creativity

Have you ever created something really “creative” and then afterward, when you look at it, you think… “That does not make any sense, but it felt good while I created it!”?
That’s what used to happen to me. I would create some pretty cool content, but when I would read or listen to or watch it again afterward, it often would not make sense.
And then I started experimenting with what I call “Structured Creativity”, and started getting some really amazing results. Some things I’ve been able accomplish with this method include:
Writing a 200+ page book in 21 days
Writing a 60+ report in a weekend
Writing 80+ report in about 2 weeks
A lot of people take a lifetime to write a new book. With my method, I believe it’s possible to write at least one new book every year… or even every 6 months!
Try it. Give it a go. And let me know what kind of results you get.
Gideon Shalwick here and welcome to my forest. This is the forest that I live in and I thought I’d do something different today. I’m recording inside the little rainforest and I’m going to tell you a few things about online marketing, video blogging and all that sort of stuff.
What I want to talk about today is something that I’ve discovered that is really valuable for creating amazing content. Whether it’s for your blog, a book you’re writing, a free report, or a product that you’re creating, this is something that I’ve stumbled upon that is really useful.
When you hear these two words you’ll think they are contradictory. It’s what I call structured creativity. When you think about these two words together they seem to contradict each other and it almost sounds like an oxymoron, but let me explain.
Structured creativity is a really good way of creating content for your blog, website, or your product (as I said before). What do I mean by this? What I mean is to create some kind of a structure and then within that structure you apply your creativity. That’s all it really is.
So the words seem to be clashing a bit because with structure people think there’s not much creativity and when you think about creativity that’s kind of divergent and you don’t want to have structure to that. When you apply structured creativity you can create some very, very good content very quickly.
Let me give you an example, that’s the easiest way to explain this. The way that I normally create a blog post is to first of all do a bit of research. I think about the topic that I want to talk or write about and then I get into brainstorming mode. The way I do brainstorming is I use a mind map. I create a mind map of the article, or the video, or the product that I want to create. I create this extensive mind map with all of the ideas that come to mind. Once I’ve done that I put it into some sort of a logical sequence, or a logical structure. There’s is no real content there. It is just the structure that I create. Then once I have that structure I rely on my creativity within each of those points to create content within that structure.
Now by the end of the process you end up with content that is both structured and creative. The structure part is really good for people absorbing your information and the creativity part is really good to keep people interested in what you are telling them. I use structured creativity all the time and it works really well.
That’s just a real quick tip from me for creating content really fast and really easily so that it is easily absorbed by your user and also comes across really cool.

[..YouTube..] Good tip. And on the bit re: mind maps, I have found them very helpful for the way I think. More details on that technique and tools might be beneficial to some people.
Seriously, that is not a lizard…that’s like a baby dinosaur or something. In the States lizards are small like skinny mice, that “reptile” behind you is huge….ok…once I got over the lizard that Yaro pointed out, wanted to say thank you again for great tips and leading the video revolution. I’m preparing to launch my blog and I have several videos on the blogsite.
Hehehe – yeah that “lizard” is huge. And it’s not even a big one! They can grow rather big. Pretty harmless though, and really tame.
Yeah video is SOOOOOO much fun – I just LOVE it. If you’re not into it yet, I strongly recommend you start (But I’m a little biased of course, hehehe!)
[..YouTube..] You are a master at what you do and say, I really admire you for that. I thank God
for you and Yaro, you both are the best. Thanks for sharing.

[..YouTube..] I agree, putting a little structure in place often helps get the creativity going as well…
Love the lizard in the background G, very cool!
Hehehe… Yeah they crack me up. They are pretty tame actually.
One thing that totally puzzles me about them though, is that they completely disappear in the winter time, and then come straight back in the summer.
Do they go into the ground and sleep there for like 6 months? That’s the only explanation I could come up with.
