Oh and when you use Xilisoft, remember to set the bit rate to at least 1,000 kbps - that will ensure your videos are nice and crisp and clear and still keep the file size down.

Hey Kevin

Here are some detailed instructions:

http://gideonshalwick.com/how-to-convert-high-def-videos-to-flv-so-they-play-quickly-and-keep-the-same-clarity-%E2%80%93-part-2/

http://gideonshalwick.com/how-to-convert-high-def-videos-to-flv-so-they-play-quickly-and-keep-the-same-clarity-part-3/

Remember to spread the word and say nice things about my videos ok ;)

Gideon

PS: Also, remember to use the search function at the top right hand corner of my site - it will help you find info a lot easier. For example, if you do a search for FLV, all of the above results come up :)

Hello Gideon,

Great webinar tonight with Greg. Nice site.
I have a question maybe you can help with. I am using Screenflow on my Mac to make how-to videos of various internet related tasks. I host my videos on Amazon's EZS3. I looked at some of the forums on EZS3 and they recommend that the video's are in the flv format for faster download, verses the .mov format which is how Screenflow seems to save. How do I convert to a flv? I have tried about 5 converters which were recommended on the apple website, none have worked. I also loaded them up to youtube and downloaded as a flv, but the quality is low once they are converted.

Any suggestions of a software that will get this done with little or no hassle?

Thanks so much for your help.

Hey Tyrone

If you're doing this on a WordPress blog, why dont you just use the Flash Player Plugin for WordPress?

I show you how to do it here:

http://gideonshalwick.com/how-to-embed-flv-video-files-on-your-blog-without-using-services-like-youtube/

That should do the job!

Hey Gideon,

Excellent video and I've completed all your steps in this tutorial.

Unfortunately I'm having problems and the script doesn't show up in Wordpress. Here's the script I created:

The player will show in this paragraph

var s1 = new SWFObject('player.swf','https://mo-mastermind.s3.amazonaws.com/mediaplayer/player.swf','400','300','9');
s1.addParam('allowfullscreen','true');
s1.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always');
s1.addParam('flashvars','file=https://mo-mastermind.s3.amazonaws.com/video1.flv');
s1.write('preview');

Should be simple and working...

Great stuff Maggie!

Ooh, Byron Bay sounds really nice - I bet it will be very busy this time of year!

Have fun!

PS: My parents are baby boomers, so that's allowed me to practice my patience a lot when it comes to technology ;)

(actually, they're pretty good...)

I think I might get this done Gideon LOL I had another look at the video and it's all looking good:)
Off on a short holiday to Byron Bay first, then back into it and I'm sure I'll get it done this time.

Thanks again! Is your patience never-ending?????

Hey Maggie

Yes that's correct. So for my example in the video, it would have been this:

http://gyvo.s3.amazonaws.com/test/home-page.flv

It's basically just the exact link of where your video file is stored in... cyberspace :)

So, if you're not using Amazon S3, of course the link will have a different structure.

Regards

Sounds great Gideon! Wow, I'd NEVER have figured all that out myself! Thank you so much!

When you say the url will be ....blah, blah, blah..... is that the whole Amazon S3 Url I'd put in the html?
All this stuff is doing my head in.... I will have a go though, thanks again, I'll set up a test page and just muck around until I get it right, thanks for showing the way..

Cheers,
