Great insight Gideon! I like the visualization you have done. I will start using this strategy right away. I have found myself doing just what you are saying not to do. It can become very frustrating. I will focus on my tasks one at a time.

3 Josh h August 26, 2009 at 9:16 pm: Thanks for the additional help Gideon. I have been using a notebook for jotting down ideas. I haven’ t used it this way yet. I usually just tell myself what needs to be done and try to remember it. This really is the better way of doing it.

Yep, totally agree with NOT multi tasking.
I first saw that graph about 12 months ago in GPS.
Funny I have explained that to sooo many people since. Amazing insight. I was searching thru my notes from GPS trying to find the graph to refresh my mind to tell someone else and the discussion around it.

I have not seen the graph in GPS yet – I learned about it by reading books from Eliyahu M. Goldratt (eg The Goal and Critical Chain). As far as I know he was the guy to coin the term “theory of constraints”. Really great read and they helped me a lot!

Great video Gideon!

I think everyone suffers from a little bit of “task crunching.”
It can really take away from the overall goal you are trying to accomplish.
My best advice would be to invets $20 in a white board. Hang it above your computer desk, and list your priorities for whatever goal you are trying to accomplish. As Gideon said, breakin it down into steps, and focus on each step individually. Look at each step as a small child, each one needs its own individual care. Hahaha.

Hey Gideon,
Another great one. Follow up question: what about when the tasks you have to do are not that exciting but the boring mundane stuff we have to do? Its quite common to distract themselves every so often by watching Youtube, taking a walk etc etc while doing these tasks so they don’t lose their psyche overall. What are your feelings and thoughts on this?

a) I have been observing your “career” on the Internet for over a year now and I am in full admiration of both you and Yaro.
