Inside the video I talk about each of these concepts and explain how they work together to form a powerful unity to help you succeed for the long term.

I’ve got a very interesting video for you coming up. A while ago, a friend of mine, Rob, from Robwebstips.com asked me a question. He asked, “If you had to give one bit of advice to an entrepreneur, what would it be and why?”
So, I’ve actually come up with three things which I guess form a unity. One thing—one bit of advice that I would give you to be successful.
The three things are these. First of all, to get crystal clear double vision–I’ll talk about that in a second. The second thing is to put on some blinkers to help you get laser focus on what’s known as our hedgehog concept. And the third thing is to apply everlasting persistence—so those three things. Let’s go through those three things first and let me explain them to you.
The first thing is to get crystal clear double vision. What do I mean by that? You get a lot of people talking about crystal clear vision. But they only talk about your own vision, what you want in your life, and what you want to be doing in with your life. Well, I think, there is actually two things—two sides of the coin for vision. And I read this from Mark Joiner—the World’s First Internet Marketer, or the Godfather of Internet Marketing at least. And he talked about—you know it being very similar to being on in a battle. So you have to have a very clear vision of what you want to do with a battle—where you want to attack, what your strategies are.
But you also need to have very clear vision on what your enemy is doing. So you need that two side of vision: what you want to be doing and also what everyone else is doing in your niche or in your market. So not only do you need to be clear on what it is that you want for yourself but also what everyone else is doing in your market. That’s very very important.
First of all, get that clear crystal version of what you want for yourself and what everyone else or the competitors are doing as well because, if you have that vision, then everything else will become a lot clearer to you as well. You’ll know how to operate, when to operate, and why you need to operate as well. So that’s the first thing—crystal clear, double vision.
The second thing is to put on blinkers, like those horses do, to help you get laser focus on your hedgehog concept. I talked more about the hedgehog concept in one of m previous videos. But really it’s just the combination of three things or the overlap of three things. It’s where your passion and your skills and how you make money from it with those three things overlap. That is your hedgehog concept. And the story is from—you know the hedgehog—his good at one thing. Whereas the fox, he tries many different things. He never really succeeds. That’s just a short of it.
If you can become very clear on your hedgehog concept—and this is part of your vision, by the way, and then apply laser focus on that hedgehog concept. That will help you to get through, what’s known as the breakthrough point, as Jim Collins talks about in Good To Great. Read that book. It’s an amazing book by the way.
So get crystal vision first—double vision. Figure out your hedgehog concept and apply laser focus on that. When you have the hedgehog concept in place—your own hedgehog concept—that actually allows you to automatically have these blinkers on that allows you to say no to everything else that doesn’t fit in with your hedgehog concept. That’s one of the powerful outcomes of having a very clear hedgehog concept. You can very easily say no to opportunities that do not help you promote your own hedgehog concept—absolutely critical.
Put on those blinkers. Ignore everything else or outsource everything else that doesn’t fit with your hedgehog concept and say no to all opportunities that do not help you extend your own hedgehog concept–critical stuff.
And then the final thing is to apply everlasting persistence. Napoleon Hill talks about how failure cannot cope with persistence and it’s absolutely true. And I would like to add a little bit to that—if I may—failure cannot cope with everlasting persistence when you apply laser focus to your hedgehog concept. So applying laser focus to your hedgehog concept persistently—failure just cannot cope with that. And I apply that to my own life, my own business, and everytime I’ve done it, I’ve been able to get some amazing success.
So those are my three things, you have crystal clear double vision, put on some blinkers so that you can have laser focus on your hedgehog concept, and apply everlasting persistence on your hedgehog concept.
Those are the three things. That’s my secret for success. That’s the bit of advice I would give you if you’re an entrepreneur and you want to have long term sustainable success. If you want to see some of my own work and how I make money online with what I do just go to RapidVideoBlogging.com. There’s a 92-report there that you can download for free. And that will give you a very amazing overview of how I do, what I do online.
I also talked about the hedgehog concept and a little bit more detail on this. Just go to RapidVideoBlogging.com.
Thanks again Rob for the question, I really appreciate it and I look forward to share some more really cool information in the future with you and your audience. Thank you for watching.
[..YouTube..] @LarryCook333 Hey Larry – Check my export settings on my personal blog at GideonShalwick D.O.T.C.O.M.
[..YouTube..] @junowhoim It’s my new Canon T2i 550D DSLR camera – it’s great in some respects, but it also has it’s own drawbacks. Eg, it can only record for 12 minutes at a time, and the files are huge.

[..YouTube..] @bookingselect I use a Rode Lapel Mic plugged into an Edirol Voice recorder. And the microphone in the background is a Rode Podcaster – great microphone!

[..YouTube..] @u63mc OTT?
[..YouTube..] @thePodcastProfessor I just use the annotations feature inside YouTube – really easy and straight forward to do. Just go to the editing interface of your video on YouTube, and then look for the annotations tab.
[..YouTube..] @u63mc …I’d say that word neologisms is a bit OTT as I don’t know what it means! lol!
[..YouTube..] Yeah great video as always. Recently became a youtube partner and I attribute that to the wonderful video tips you have created on your youtube channel….Still perfecting my hedgehog concept though…a work in progress you might say!
[..YouTube..] @WayneTully1 Wow well done and congrats man! That is awesome news! Here’s to your continued success… and finding your true Hedgehog!
[..YouTube..] Hi Gideon,
Once again great video.
Are some of the others making comments below professional critics or what? I get your message each time!
Warm regards,
Arike
[..YouTube..] Hi Gideon,
Once again, great video.
Are some of the others making comments below professional critics or what? I get your message each time!

[..YouTube..] @GideonShalwick Thank you Gideon. I’m actually a running higher audio bit rate than what you post on your blog. Do you ever run your audio through a pro program prior to output for upload? Do you set your maximum audio peaks to a certain level? A couple years ago YouTube changed a few audio settings and we started setting outputs to -1 db. I recently read -3db works best now. I use Soundtrack Pro and use its compressor function and roll off the low end. Any thoughts/feedback?
[..YouTube..] Wow, right on. Just listened to Personal Power by Tony Robbins. Same kind of working principals.
[..YouTube..] @GideonShalwick Lol. I think it might stand for Over The Top?
[..YouTube..] Loved your video. Bit of a difference in terminology…the term most Americans use for horse blinkers or winkers is blinders. I spent too much time trying to figure out what a horse blinker was.
[..YouTube..] @GideonShalwick
Don’t mean to be the lone dissenter here lol.
OTT= Over The Top
Neologism= Unique word created by someone for something.
Such as:
“Get crystal vision first, double vision, figure out your hedgehog concept and apply laser focus on that, once you have the hedgehog concept put blinkers on”
“Failure cannot cope with everlasting persistence when you apply laser focus to your own hedgehog concept”
I guess basically what I’m asking is whether this is intentonal on your part or not
[..YouTube..] Another rock solid video. What video editing software do you recommend?
[..YouTube..] Hi Gideon,
What constant progression in your art of “RapidVideo” presentation !
I wonder what is the focal length you use.
Canon : EF 28mm f/1.8 USM, EF 35mm f/2, EF 35mm f/1.4L USM, EF 50 mm f/1.8…?
Thanking you in anticipation,
Stefan
[..YouTube..] Gideon, you are great, thanks so much!
[..YouTube..] @StefanCherpin Hey Stefan – I use a nifty fifty lens – 50 mm f/1.8. That basically gives me the nice depth of field you see here…
Gideon Shalwick
[..YouTube..] @annieroe1 lol – oh my apologies – I will double check the lingo next time!
Gideon Shalwick
[..YouTube..] @RCSuperPowers Yeah Tony Robbins kicks ass – he’s such a guru with this kinda stuff. Funny enough, I have never done any of his courses, but I think we read the same books hehehe!
Gideon Shalwick
[..YouTube..] @arike2 Hey Arike – thanks for the nice words. Yeah I know what you mean about critics. But that just seems normal once you reach a certain level of success – tall poppy syndrome. It’s pretty common over here in my neck of the woods. A pity really, but it seems part of reality
Gideon Shalwick
[..YouTube..] @MyBaltimoreBrian I only use ScreenFlow on Mac now. But if you’re on PC, you can just use Sony Vegas Studio HD – pretty cool.
Gideon Shalwick
[..YouTube..] @GideonShalwick A big Thank you for your answer Gideon !
What video encoding do you recommend for ease in video editing ?
- .MOV / MPeg-4 AVC (H.264) by Canon
- AVCHD (50i) by Sony (alpha 33/55)
Have a nice day,
Stefan
[..YouTube..] @StefanCherpin If you’re on a Mac, the .MOV format is brilliant! Similar on PC, but not as good.
Laser focus…definitely laser focus. It’s so tempting (and easy!) to get sidetracked but I think the best marketing videos focus in and hammer on one point and one call to action.
Oh, and putting in a cliffhanger at the end of the video – that’s one of my favorite tips.
Couple of issues, cutaways of website and the graphic not held long enough on screen.
Drop shadow has issues, it’s too far away from text and too opaque.
Hey, Gideon, it is a really thoughtful video. Most time, we know what we need, but ignore what our competitors are doing, it is dangerous. Just like, Sun Zi said:
” Hence the saying: If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy,
for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
Please keep putting posts, I watch every one of them! Thanks!
Great advice Gideon! Can I ask you what camera you would recommend, as I need to shoot video where I am moving. I don’t want to have to buy a wireless mic, so what affordable camera, that is easy to use and edit video, and upload would you recommend?
Thanks in advance,
Mike
As with all of your content another great video. Thanks for consistently putting out quality content that is a huge help. Keep up the GREAT work!!!
Thanks for this! In my latest video I am also going to laser target my focus. Traffic!
Entepreneurs are among the most PASSIONATE people I know. They are creative, inspired and energized… All good, yet this can lead to feeling scattered, overwhelmed with ideas and many different paths to explore.
I like your blinker focus concept. By staying laser focused on one or two KEY concepts for your business, you will enjoy completion and success, and the benefits that a strong, streamlined brand affords.
Thank you Gideon!

Hi Gideon,
Can you please help me?
How do I convert my Imovie project to mp3 file in order to transcribe my video?
Best regards,
Anesh
Hi Anesh
Here’s what you do…
First export your movie to a .mov file using iMovie.
Then, use Xilisoft to convert the .mov file to an mp3 file.
Easy peasy!
Just get the standard version for Xilisoft… I think it’s around 30 bucks?
Gideon
Gideon,
I wanted to find your best link to send to a friend and this is what came up. Even though I am not going down this path myself, I think my friend should and therefore I think she needs you. I couldn’t resist hearing what you had to say, so I clicked “play” and had a listen.
I think your advice has a spiritual as well as technical nature to it and is therefore even more powerful. I’m so glad to be introducing my friend to your world and hope she takes my suggestion.
Your friend in the San Francisco Bay Area

Focusing is really key. The more time you spend getting sidetracked is more time that you are losing money:)
Hi Gideon,
I love all of your videos. You give useful, thought-provoking tips every time.
BTW I think you mean horse blinders rather than blinkers…..
