It’s been a very, very busy year. In fact, it’s been a very, very busy 4 years and I’ve got to ask you the question. Do you think it’s possible to just work, work, work very, very hard all the time and still be successful?

I think with any kind of success comes sacrifices and you need to make some sacrifices to be able to enjoy success. For example, sometimes you need to put on a bit of extra effort compared to other people and miss out on some other things.

I remember the days when I used to do athletics and you know I couldn’t go out partying with my mates. I had to go to bed early so that I could perform the next day so that I could do really well. And I had to train really, really hard. I think it’s the same in business.

But at the same time, you also need what’s called “rest”. Ok, no rocket science there. But basically the way I look at business at any source of successful business is that there are 4 different stages—4.

The first one is where you sow. This is where you sow the seeds of your business.

The second stage is where you nurture that little seed to make it grow. So you can look at your business as a plant, basically. You can compare it to a plant. You sow the seed, you nurture it.

The third stage is where once you’ve nurtured it long enough, it’s really to reap the harvest. And you’ve done a good job with the sowing and nurturing, your reaping stage would be very, very successful and that’s where you make your money.

The fourth stage is a stage that a lot of people skip. They go straight back to sowing again or they just keep on trying to reap and then they don’t go through the cycle properly.

And the fourth stage is the rest stage. I think it is a very critical stage for your business for anything you do really, whether it’s farming—farming the land or running a business. Whatever you do in life, there are these 4 stages: sowing, nurturing, reaping, and resting. Sowing, nurturing, reaping, and resting-going back through that cycle over and over again. And basically, you can’t skip the rest stage unless you want to burn out.

So I’m really now at the stage where I’ve been sowing a lot, I’ve been nurturing a lot and recently, I’ve been reaping a lot as well. I’m reaping the rewards of my hard work over the last 4 years.

And now the fourth stage for me is really the resting stage. Now, you could be asking yourself-huh, rest? How can you still make money while you rest? Well, just by resting, it doesn’t mean that you have to stop working or that you have to neglect your business. There are some things you can do during your rest phase to still make a really decent income and to, in fact, make even more.

A good friend of mine, Yaro Starak, he’s really a good example of that where he travelled for 6 months in a year. He said he made more money during that travelling stage-“holiday” stage than he did before that. So that’s an example of how you can make more money during a rest phase.

So a couple of things here that I want to mention that, I think, are really too good things that you can do during the rest phase of your business.

The first one is simplification. Whenever you run a new business or start a new project, inevitably, it becomes more messy, more disorganized. And you know that’s because of the law of entropy. You might have heard of that from the Physics world. It basically states that everything moves to a state of more disorganization. And it’s no different for your business. It’s no different for anything else in life for that matter. I mean your bedroom is a good example. It seems like it just gets messy all by itself and if I don’t take action and clean it, it’s not getting any better. So that’s the point. You need to make sure that you fight this law of entropy in your business as well because things just naturally become messier.

In my business for example now, I’ve run a lot of projects- I’ve got a lot of products. The next stage now for me is to simplify what I’ve got and to get rid of all the loose ends. Make sure that the business flows smoothly and then I remove distractions so that I can focus on the right things. So that’s the first thing that I think is a really good thing to do when you are in the resting phase.

And the second thing, which I think is equally important during the resting phase, is to optimize what you currently have. So with simplification, you look at ways to simplify your life and your business and to find those low hanging fruit that you need to focus on. And optimization is really-look at those low hanging fruit and really optimize it. So you try and get the most out of what you already have.

And these ties back into being able to make even more money during your rest phase. Because often during a launch, during a new product or during a new project, you kind of forget to optimize and you leave a lot of money on the table and so during the rest phase, that’s a fantastic stage to go back to your projects, to your launches, to your products—whatever you have and to optimize what you currently have. I think those are two really key things that you can do during the rest phase.

I’ve got a very interesting video for you coming up. A while ago, a friend of mine, Rob, from Robwebstips.com asked me a question. He asked, “If you had to give one bit of advice to an entrepreneur, what would it be and why?”

So, I’ve actually come up with three things which I guess form a unity. One thing—one bit of advice that I would give you to be successful.

The three things are these. First of all, to get crystal clear double vision-I’ll talk about that in a second. The second thing is to put on some blinkers to help you get laser focus on what’s known as our hedgehog concept. And the third thing is to apply everlasting persistence—so those three things. Let’s go through those three things first and let me explain them to you.

The first thing is to get crystal clear double vision. What do I mean by that? You get a lot of people talking about crystal clear vision. But they only talk about your own vision, what you want in your life, and what you want to be doing in with your life. Well, I think, there is actually two things—two sides of the coin for vision. And I read this from Mark Joiner—the World’s First Internet Marketer, or the Godfather of Internet Marketing at least. And he talked about—you know it being very similar to being on in a battle. So you have to have a very clear vision of what you want to do with a battle—where you want to attack, what your strategies are.

But you also need to have very clear vision on what your enemy is doing. So you need that two side of vision: what you want to be doing and also what everyone else is doing in your niche or in your market. So not only do you need to be clear on what it is that you want for yourself but also what everyone else is doing in your market. That’s very very important.

First of all, get that clear crystal version of what you want for yourself and what everyone else or the competitors are doing as well because, if you have that vision, then everything else will become a lot clearer to you as well. You’ll know how to operate, when to operate, and why you need to operate as well. So that’s the first thing—crystal clear, double vision.

The second thing is to put on blinkers, like those horses do, to help you get laser focus on your hedgehog concept. I talked more about the hedgehog concept in one of m previous videos. But really it’s just the combination of three things or the overlap of three things. It’s where your passion and your skills and how you make money from it with those three things overlap. That is your hedgehog concept. And the story is from—you know the hedgehog—his good at one thing. Whereas the fox, he tries many different things. He never really succeeds. That’s just a short of it.

If you can become very clear on your hedgehog concept—and this is part of your vision, by the way, and then apply laser focus on that hedgehog concept. That will help you to get through, what’s known as the breakthrough point, as Jim Collins talks about in Good To Great. Read that book. It’s an amazing book by the way.

So get crystal vision first—double vision. Figure out your hedgehog concept and apply laser focus on that. When you have the hedgehog concept in place—your own hedgehog concept—that actually allows you to automatically have these blinkers on that allows you to say no to everything else that doesn’t fit in with your hedgehog concept. That’s one of the powerful outcomes of having a very clear hedgehog concept. You can very easily say no to opportunities that do not help you promote your own hedgehog concept—absolutely critical.

Put on those blinkers. Ignore everything else or outsource everything else that doesn’t fit with your hedgehog concept and say no to all opportunities that do not help you extend your own hedgehog concept–critical stuff.

And then the final thing is to apply everlasting persistence. Napoleon Hill talks about how failure cannot cope with persistence and it’s absolutely true. And I would like to add a little bit to that—if I may—failure cannot cope with everlasting persistence when you apply laser focus to your hedgehog concept. So applying laser focus to your hedgehog concept persistently—failure just cannot cope with that. And I apply that to my own life, my own business, and everytime I’ve done it, I’ve been able to get some amazing success.

So those are my three things, you have crystal clear double vision, put on some blinkers so that you can have laser focus on your hedgehog concept, and apply everlasting persistence on your hedgehog concept.

Those are the three things. That’s my secret for success. That’s the bit of advice I would give you if you’re an entrepreneur and you want to have long term sustainable success. Inside this video, I will talk about how I managed to double my optin rate using a really clever piece of technology. So I will do a quick review of a very cool piece of technology that you can install on your WordPress blog that will help you to double your optin rate if you do this right.

Before I get into that, I want to mention something really cool. I want to give you access—free access to some premium videos inside one of my membership sites. But let me talk about this really cool technology that I’m using to help me double my optin rate. The day that I started using this type of technology my optin rates increased by 200%. So that’s double.

Now, the particular technology that I want to explain to you is called pop-up domination from Michael Dunlop. He’s an amazing fellow who managed to get this right in my view. This is a technology that is used by many, many internet marketers; some very famous people-people like Ryan Deiss, Yaro Starak and even Joel Comm, David Risley, Ryan Lee and Jack Johnson. All these big name marketers and bloggers are using this technology-this plugin to help them increase their optin rates.

So it’s really taken off. It got a lot of authority, a lot of credibility in the market and I want to do this interview on it. There are pros and cons to this plugin and I want to make sure that you know all of these things.

So without further ado, let’s jump into the actual review. What are the pros? First of all, it is super easy to install and really is a joy to install this plugin. All you have to do is upload the plugin files to your website and go hit and activate. It’s really that easy. It takes a few minutes—as straight forward as you can get.

The next real pro that I love about this plugin is that it looks really, really good. If you’ve seen the pop up box on my blog at Gideonshalwick.com, or any of my other blogs, you’ll know what I’m talking about. It’s just looks professional, crystal clear, and the graphics are good. It just looks beautiful. That’s one of Michael’s key strengths. He knows how to make stuff beautiful and functional at the same time.

The next thing is that they are really, really effective. These pop-up domination boxes—they seem to bypass the filters of websites and they seem to come up on most browsers. That is a fantastic benefit which of course helps you increase your optin rate tremendously. That is really, really cool.

You can set a timer on the actual pop-up which is fantastic because that means you can set whether it should come up immediately when people visit your website or maybe set it to 3 seconds after they visit your website. So it gives you that flexibility.

You can also set how often it actually comes up on your website. So for example, I’ve got mine set to once every 7 days. And there’s a reason behind that and sometimes people visit your website. I may not optin the first time around, but when they see your optin the second time, seven days later, that may help them to optin, actually, for your newsletter. There’s method to the madness there, but it seems to work.

So seven days-but you can set it to whatever you want. You can set it to only work or to show it once to people who visit your website.

The other thing that’s really cool about is that it’s really easy to upload your own 3D graphics for say your eBook, or DVD or whatever else you want to give away as part of your optin box. All you have to do is add a link to the graphic, enter it into the admin area for the plugin and you’re ready to rock—really, really easy to use.

The other thing that I love about is that it’s really easy to add bullet points to the optin form and they just once again look really great. All you have to do is type them in and pop-up domination does the rest for you. You’ve seen what mine looks like so you know that it looks really, really good.

The other cool thing is that it comes with a range of different templates so you can actually choose the way that you want it to look. The time when I used it, there were about four. And I think Michael has just introduced three more. So I think there are about seven or eight templates to choose from.

So you’re not stuck with just one template. You have some flexibility there with how it looks. On top of that, you can also choose all the different colors for each of the templates and so not only you do get different templates, but you can design it so that it gets fit in the rest of your website design. That is very, very cool.

It integrates with most autoresponders. If not all of them, AWeber, Mail Chimp, Get Response and a bunch of other. I really don’t think that will be an issue unless you’ve got some really, really awkward and weird autoresponder system set-up.

And the final thing that I want to say about that is that you can decide on which pages the actual pop-up appears. That’s pretty powerful. At the moment, I just select mine to show up at all pages. But if you have the preference to only show up on certain pages, that setting is available too.

So all up there-some really, really good features inside pop-up domination that I really like. I mean I just love it and it’s giving me tremendous results. I’m getting about over 200 optins a day now for my combined list and pop-up domination is a huge part of that.

But it does come with some cons as well. So let me quickly go through those as well so that you’ll see this is an honest review.

Sometimes when my pop-up domination box loads, there’s still seems to be a conflict with some of the java script elements on my website-with some of the graphics, sometimes with videos. But I believe that is something that Michael and the team are working on. It’s not really an issue for maybe .1% of the cases. In my case, because I have a very special design, there’s a slight conflict there. But as I said, 99.9% of the time, you will be fine. So there couldn’t be any issues there for you.

I found that it loads a little bit slow. And because of that, I think it waits for your whole website to load first before the actual box can load. Because of that, people can’t click on the X—the cross button, to get rid of it. And that can be a little bit annoying.

But what I found is that there is a way around it. Instead of letting the pop-up box shows up immediately, you just set it to show up 3 seconds later or 5 seconds, basically, waiting for your website to load first before the pop-up box loads. That way the actual pop-up box loads a lot faster and people can click on it and get rid of it if they want to.

At the moment, I haven’t seen any automatic updates for the plugin which is a little bit annoying, nowadays, for WordPress 3 or even earlier versions which you can automatically click on the link inside your WordPress’ admin area and it updates it. Of course, this is a paid plugin so maybe that’s the reason why they don’t have the automatic thing going it. But perhaps there is something that they’ll build in the future. Michael, if you’re watching this, that will be an awesome feature to use — to have inside the software.

The other thing that I talked to Michael about is that it only has 4 bullet points—maximum of 4 bullet points that you can use with the software. I would have liked to see at least 5 so that I have a choice to use, either 3 or 5 bullet points. That’s just my own personal preference. From the copywriting world, they liked to go in 3s or 5s-bullet points or 7s, uneven numbers. Then ask me, why? That’s what they seem to recommend. But Michael and his team recons that 4 is the optimal number for bullet points. So it depends on your point of view there.

But those really are the only things that I could find wrong with pop-up domination. So it’s not perfect but I mean which software is. All software has bugs and problems-even Macintosh software. But you know, it’s a great piece of software. A lot of really amazing people are using it. In this industry, it has a lot of credibility. Michael tells me that it only has a 1% refund rate which is incredibly low. I mean, normally, it’s like between 10 and 30, and 50 percent even for these kinds of products online. And they only have a1% right about there refund rate which is just incredibly low.

So people love it. They don’t want to refund their money because they love it. And I’m on the same box. I don’t want to refund it because I love it. I just so love it and I even recommend it. Even if it didn’t have an affiliate program, I would still recommend this plugin because it does a fantastic job.

So you can gather that this plugin is not for free. It does sell for something. For the price that you pay for this, I think you’re getting amazing value. I really recommend that you actually get this plugin, install it, try it out at least—it does have a money back guarantee. But check it out and see the difference that it makes on your website—really, really powerful.

Recently I got asked by my friend Tyrone Shum, “What is the key thing that allows me to live the lifestyle that I live?”

Let me just quickly tell you a little bit about my lifestyle. I live in the center of Brisbane in Australia next to a wind beautiful intercity park—in fact the biggest intercity sub-tropical garden in the world. And I work from home. My wife—she helps me. I’ve got a beautiful little girl. She was born a few weeks ago— a couple of three months ago or so. And I just love it. I love what I do. Everyday I wake up and I can’t believe that I’m getting paid for what I’m doing. And I think there is one key concept that has really helped me live the lifestyle that I can live today.

Let me explain it to you. It’s called a hedgehog concept. It’s not really rocket science. But I read this for the first time from a gentleman called Mike Filsaime. He is a very very successful internet marketer. I interviewed him and explained this to me. And he read it from Jim Collins who wrote a book, Good To Great. But basically it’s a way to figure out what it is that you’re supposed to be doing with your life and with your business. You can apply to both your life, personally, but also to a business life as well. And basically it’s the intersection of three things–three circles. He draws a picture of three circles. The first circle is about what you’re truly passionate about. You know the things that you have a natural talent, for example. The second circle is about your skill level. What is it that you become the best at in the world? And the third circle is how you can make money from it. He calls it your profit per X. So with those three circles intersect right in the middle–that’s called your hedgehog concept.

Now it’s actually taken me a number of years to figure out my hedgehog concept and it is not unusual for bigger companies to take two to three years sometimes to fully figure it out. And once you’ve fully figured it out, it gives you that laser focus for what you should be doing with your life and with your business. And trust me, it helps you rock at the head like you’ve never seen it before. Jim Collins also talks about the breakthrough point that you get to. You get to a point in your business career that if you’ve been focusing on your hedgehog concept for long enough, you get to this breakthrough point. And he explains it with the fly wheel concept. Sometimes it’s very difficult to get the fly wheel starting–starting to spin you get to push and push at the beginning. But as you keep on pushing at the same direction, after awhile, the things starts spinning itself and that’s the breakthrough point. And I’ve definitely reached the breakthrough point with my business now because I’ve been focusing on my own hedgehog concept so much. And that helped me tremendously. And it’s really quite liberating because, now, when I get approached by someone for a new opportunity (because I get approached so many times almost everyday I get a new request for a new business that people want to start with me), I’m crystal clear on my hedgehog concept. And because I am crystal clear on it, I can very easily say, “Look that’s a great opportunity. But it doesn’t fit my hedgehog concept so I’m gonna have to say NO”. So it’s really easy for me to just say NO to things first. Whereas before, I would have to really think carefully and long and hard about any opportunity that comes my way. Now it’s just so easy. And once again it helps me to cut out all the stuff that I don’t need to be focusing on and allows me to have this laser focus on my own hedgehog concept which in it helps me become a lot more successful.

So I’m not sure what you might have expected to think. It wasn’t internet that gave me this freedom. It wasn’t online video. It wasn’t joint venture partnerships. Whatever else, it wasn’t outsourcing even–none of these things. All those things are important but all of that is based on my hedgehog concept. And I don’t think I would have been as successful as I am today without the hedgehog concept. So thanks to Mike Filsaime, who first introduced me to the concept. And of course, Jim Collins who has written an amazing book, Good To Great. Make sure you read it.

One Of Your Biggest Issues With “Flip” Style Cameras Solved!

One of the biggest issues my students always tell me about with “Flip” style cameras (Flip Ultra HD, Kodak Zi8 and other similar cameras), is that you can’t see the viewfinder while recording yourself… unless you have super bionic powers and can see around corners! While I don’t have super bionic powers, I think I’ve stumbled upon a pretty neat little solution (the whole thing actually came to me inside a dream… believe it or not!) for the Flip video camera viewfinder fix.

Using the solution inside today’s video is powerful, yet very effective. It’s a great solution because:

It’s super easy to implement
It should only take you about 10 - 20 minutes to create
It will only cost you around 10 bucks - or even less!
And it will make your life much easier while recording videos!

Let me guess one of the big problems you might have with flip style cameras-either the flip or something like the Kodak Zi8. They are great little cameras except that it can only see the front of them when you’re standing in front of them. In other words, you can’t see the back of them when you’re standing in front of them—ok that’s kind of obvious.

But this is particularly important. You want to be able to see the back when you’re recording from the front and because it doesn’t have a nice little flip screen you can’t see the actual view finder on the back. Same for both the Kodak, the flip camera and similar cameras like that.

So that’s the problem if it’s just you and there’s no camera man and you want to be doing recording and it’s a big hassle to go backwards and forwards to test recordings to make sure that you’re in the right position inside the screen. And it can be very frustrating.

I’ve got some really good news for you though because I found a really simple and affordable solution too and because I know if you’re using the flip or the Kodak Zi8 that you like affordable solutions that are simple as well.

So I will show you something that I’ve created myself and cost me less than $10 to create and it only took me—I don’t know if you count going to the shop as well maybe an hour or up. If you don’t count the shop maybe it’s only 10-15 minutes to create this solution.

I will show you the solution for how you can actually see the back of your camera without walking and/or looking from towards the back. I hope you get what I’m saying. You’ll see the solution very soon. It’s very cool. It’s very simple. It’s very affordable and I know you will love it. Next stop, I’ll show you the solution.

So there you go. That is the solution in a nutshell. I have my little flip camera over there on my tripod. And I have a little mirror in the background. How cool is that? It’s as simple as that. That is really my solution. And the mirror is sitting on the back of the handle of my tripod. Let’s walk in and see a little bit closer.

So there’s my little trusty flip. Beautiful on camera, with it’s viewfinder in the back which is often a bit of an annoyance if you’re standing in front it recording. Then I’ve got my little tripod here. As you can see, it’s just one of the Sony tripods. And just at the back of it, I’ve got this contraption here which is pretty simple. Let me go on the other side so you can see that as well. So all it is, is a shaver’s mirror or a make-up mirror that I’ve stuck unto a piece of cardboard—you know one of those rolls that you have in tin foil over quite often. And I stuck it using some duct tape.

It’s a pretty cool solution. And then I just basically pushed this whole thing unto the back of my tripod handle and twisted the handle up a little bit so that when I move back here in front of the camera, over there, you will see that it’s all beautiful. I can actually see the viewfinder now.

Let me just turn it on so that you can see. There you go. Now it’s on. I can look straight into the camera. And now there you’ll see the viewfinder now is in focus. You can actually see me with my little DSLR camera. And when I’m ready, I can position myself so I could tell any to get a little bit closer for example. And there you can see the viewfinder-maybe I want to be a little bit to the left. Once I’m ready, I can just go ahead and hit the record button and there it goes. So now I can record with my little flip camera and now I’m exactly at the right spot to be doing the recording. How cool is that?

Next, I’ll quickly show you the main components of what I used for putting together this little solution.

Ok let’s look in a little bit more detail on what you actually need to put all these together. You need some duct tape. You need a pair of scissors—not really required but good if you have them. You need one of these things which are a very simple shaver’s mirror or make-up mirror. As you can see, it’s only worth about $2 of $3. You need one of these things which is a—I just grabbed this from the tin foil rolls, got rid of the tin foil. And of course you’ll need a tripod with a handle like this—a handle that can rotate.

It’s important that you get these ones, if you don’t have them already. Or you’ll have to make a plan if your tripod doesn’t do this solely. This happens to be an adjustable little handle that allows me to adjust it, move it up and down, basically, rotate it around like that. Because it’s on a bend, it allows me to get different angles here so I can rotate 360 degrees this way. And with my solution with this little mirror, it can go this way as well. So it means I can basically set up my mirror at any angle that I want—very cool.

Now, what’s also cool about this mirror is that it’s got this magnified version as well as just the normal version on the other side. I used the magnified one because it means I see a bigger picture on my viewfinder when I see the image. This little mirror is pretty cool.

It’s only 3 bucks. And so if you look at what I did here, it’s basically just attaching this little mirror here with the duct tape. First of all, I’ve put my strip over there and then I just wrapped the duct tape around the edges and in the middle. It’s very straight forward nothing to fancy. And that’s it.

Once you’re done with that, you can basically just stick this, the end of the handle, on to this roll and make sure that it works. So that’s pretty easy to do. Just try to stay in the view. And that’s basically it. We need to position it to be at the right angle so that you can see the viewfinder. It’s very straightforward. You can make it look prettier. I haven’t even gone too much trouble to make this look pretty.

That’s basically it in a nutshell. It’s really that simple and it’s very portable too. It’s cheap. It’s portable, quick and easy to make and very cool. It gives you that flexibility to see your viewfinder. Which Camera Is Best For Rapid Video Blogging?

I’ve had this question maybe a thousand times: “Which camera is the best camera?”

And it’s always kinda hard to give a straight answer.

The thing is, there are simply SO many different cameras out there, and each one of them pretty much has it’s own purpose. For example, some cameras are more appropriate for TV, while others are more appropriate for personal home videos. Etc, etc, etc…

So, today I talk about two fantastic little cameras that do a GREAT job *for their intended purpose*! It’s the Kodak Zi8 Vs Flip!

Maybe you’ve had some experience with one or both of these two cameras and you can share some of your ideas with the rest of us?

One of the questions I get most often is “What camera to use for online video?”. Well there is a simple answer to that. It really depends on what you trying to achieve online.

There are basically a million different answers or a million different question when it comes to cameras and there are so many cameras to choose from and it’s actually quite daunting. What I tried to do is I tried it to really make it simple.

I teach a method called Rapid Video Blogging which allows you to create videos super fast and help you get results rapidly that’s where the rapid comes from.

There are 2 cameras in particular that is at the top of my list for rapidly creating videos and it’s for particular kind of video. The 2 cameras that I’m talking about are the Flip Ultra HD camera and also the Kodak Zi8.

They’re very similar in terms of performance but I want to do a quick review of both of them and compare the 2 so you could see the difference between them and also my preferences and maybe you got your own preferences too.

I just want to say that these cameras are good for what they are being used for, and that is for creating videos rapidly for the internet. So they are not used for creating hollywood type videos, they are not used for creating huge long, hour long, 2 hour long, 3 hour long videos. They are great for those short quick clips on YouTube and for getting nice and clear quality videos and getting them up really quickly.

So without further adou, let me do a quick review for these two cameras so that you can get the feel for the differences between them.

First thing I want to talk about is the video quality. For both of them I think they perform actually quite similar. The Flip Ultra HD records is 720p which is great for the internet, in fact that is HD for YouTube and the Kodak Zi8 records in 720p as well but you do have the option to go up to 1080p as well. So in terms of size the Kodak wins but in terms of actual video quality when you play back on the internet it’s pretty similar there’s not too much difference between the two. So that’s in terms of video quality, I think they are pretty much equal in that sense.

The second thing I want to look out is the sound quality of the two cameras and in that department I think the Kodak wins and the reason for that is because it has a little external microphone jack that you can plug a power microphone for example. That’s really handy if you are a little bit further away from the camera and you still want to have a good sound.

Of course the Flip camera does not have an external mic jack. So you kind of stuck with the sound that you get from the camera but there is a fix. What I normally do is I use an external voice recorder. I plug a little power microphone into that and I record the sound separately.

One of my favorites is the Edirol voice recorder from Roland and it does a fantastic job, it’s quite expensive about 500 bucks so it’s not a great entry level product. But there’s plenty of other voice recorders around that can do a very similar job. So I record that separately and just match up the sound afterwards during the editing and that fixes the sound for the Flip.

So the Kodak wins there but you can fix the flip with another voice recording device.

What about file format and the storage of the two cameras. Well the Flip camera has it’s little flip thing over there so it’s very easy to get the files to your computer. It records in mp4 format and that works on both pc and mac. It’s great format for editng on most editing programs and it pretty much just works in most applications. The Kodak records in a MOV format and it does have some space to record on the camera itself but mostly you record on an SD drive with SD card, like this over here. You can go upto 32 gigabytes with that. So that’s pretty cool, it will give you a little more option to record longer files if you want to and more footage.
Also it has it’s old USB thing to plug in to your computer. It’s not as nice as the Flip camera to use, not as easy but it does give you that extra features as well. The Flip on the other hand only records upto 8 gigabytes as a maximum and it just records straight on the camera so you don’t have the option of the SD card. So in that department I think the Kodak is winner there if that’s important to you. For my situation, I don’t really care cause most of my videos are only about 10 minutes long in any case so I don’t need to record really long videos or a lot of videos and seriously 2 hours is long enough to record for me on this little camera.

What about ease of use? How easy to use the 2 different cameras? Well both of them are actually really easy to use but in terms of winning in my mind at least, I think the Flip takes the prize. There are only 4 buttons in total on the camera and the main one is the big red one for recording, starting and stopping. You can also play back and delete and there is an On/OFF switch as well and of course the navigation buttons too. But it’s really really simple to use, It’s very straightforward. Almost impossible to do something wrong with this camera it’s really just point and shoot you just turned it on press the record and your ready to go.

With the Kodak on the hand, it’s little bit more complicated. It has a whole bunch more features to confuse you but also to give you extra functionality. But it’s not as easy to use, it got a whole bunch of buttons on the back. It takes a little bit of time to figure out what are all the buttons do. It’s not a big deal if you like extra features then Kodak is a nice option for that sort of thing. But in my view, in terms of ease of use, the Flip takes the price for that.

Finally I want to talk about the look and feel for the camera, which may not be as important for you but for me it is. There’s one thing about the Flip that I really like and that is it has a flat bottom surface. They both have a little area where you can screw that into a tripod which is pretty cool. The problem with the Kodak though, it doesn’t have a flat bottom so you can’t stand it up on a table or something if you don’t have a tripod with the Flip you can. The Flip in terms of design, for me is much better fit. It fits really nicely into your hands. It got nice rounded corners, it’s just the right size for me that’s why I don’t like the mino as well but the Flip camera is great in terms of just the way it looks and feels.

The Kodak once again is not as user friendly in terms of flat surface there and it’s quite thin and I think it’s easy to drop. That’s maybe a subjective thing and you might think differently but that’s how I perceived the difference between the two.

There’s one more thing that I want to talk about that is quite important and that is the battery use or the power for the two different devices. For the Flip Ultra HD, I really love that you can have a rechargeable battery pack that’s 2 AA size batteries. What that means is, yes you can recharge those ones but you can also use normal AA batteries when those run out of juice. That’s very cool specially if you’re out on the field, and your recording and you run out of battery power just take a few AA batteries with you and replace them and your ready to go again. The Kodak on the other hand comes with a rechargeable battery that is not your standard sizes. So that’s a little bit of pain if you run out of power you ought to need the exact one of those ones or your stuck.
I think they are quite cheap to replace anyway but it’s still not nice as AA size batteries that you can get with the Flip. And that’s another reason why I recommend the Flip Ultra HD as oppose to the Flip mino because you have that nice option with the batteries.

Overall you might guess that my choice is the Flip Ultra HD camera and you know they are basically quite similar. I mean there’s not too much difference in terms of performance, in terms of ease of use, in terms of recording and getting the files into your computer and editing it. One thing I must say about the Kodak that I just noticed with one of my members is that it doesn’t work straight on PC with Sony Vegas. You first need to convert the files into different format before you can do the editing properly on Sony Vegas and that’s a bit of a pain because it adds the extra step on the process whereas the FLip it just works straight off.

So that’s a quick review, a quick comparison between a Flip Ultra HD and the Kodak Zi8 . Once again they are both great cameras, they both do a really fantastic job for you. Bottomline for me it’s the FLip Ultra HD it’s just because there’s a number of things that I prefer and it’s super simple to use.

I wan’t to tell you how I got into Online Video and how I make six figure income from what I do online today. It wasn’t always easy for me. In fact about 4 years ago, I was stuck in the job that I didn’t really enjoy. It was a great job don’t get me wrong, and I was getting a really good salary but I felt that I wasn’t using my talents and I wasn’t able t o build up an asset that I could leverage over and over compared to what I do today.

Back then I couldn’t do that. And I wanted to get out of that situation. So I told my wife, “Hey let’s emmigrate to Australia and start a new business”. And about a month later we landed in Australia and to cut the long story short I started an Internet Marketing business.

It was a great opportunity because I can work from home and it just seemed like such a great way to earn a living. I created my first product and got some initial success but then the sales died down. I struggled to make an income for what I was doing. I only have an ebook that I was selling and my biggest issue was getting traffic and I’ve talked about this from the previous video.

So I started interviewing some of the worst top Internet Marketers. And ask them what that wasn’t make them successful. And While I learned a lot of really useful stuff from these guys from these “gurus”. In the process I learned a lot about Online Video Marketing because I did all these interviews with online video. And 4 years ago, trust me for online video that was a big issue, trying to get your videos online.

So I had to learn everything from scratch. There were no courses around. And I just had to teach myself. It was terribly difficult, I remember just doing a 10 minute video would take me 10 hours to produce. 4 years ago that was the norm although today, things have totally changed. 10 minute video takes me about half and hour or maybe an hour at the most if you want to do a really good job to create.

So things have totally changed. Back then also the equipment was very expensive. But today it’s a lot more affordable and the tools that you can use like the software is so easy and so simple to use. Today is a totally different story. But I just want to share it with you, that’s how I got into it and that’s how I learned about online video. And I went through all these difficult stages to figure out how to get my video online.

That project where I interviewed these gurus. I was gonna sell it as a membership site, guess what? I never actually sold it as membership site. To this day I haven’t made a cent from that project. I worked my butt off that project, that was really really hard work because it was so technical and so difficult to work will all these big files and all these different file formats and stuff and I really struggled. But as I said before. The benefit that I got from it was that I learned all the ins and outs and all the shortcuts for getting your videos online, getting views, and eventually turning those views into cash.

So today I run a couple of really really successful businesses. The partnership that I had with Yaro Starak the Become A Blogger that’s mainly based on online video course that we created together that’s helping us making six figure income online. Just more recently, I started a project with my magician friend Jay Jay and it’s only been just over a year. We got 3 million views on our YouTube channel and that’s just incredible. And for that particular business we’re getting something about 150 optins a day now compared couple of weeks ago it’s sitting about a 100 and now it’s more like a 150 a day. So things are really rocketing ahead for us there. And it’s all because I now know what I’m doing with online video.

I know how to create these videos really quick I know how to get views really quick and I know what to do with those views once you get them on how to get people go to your website and turn those views and visitors into cash. That’s really what it’s all about, getting exposure is amazing but being able to turn that exposure into real traffic into your site and turning that traffic into real optins into your newsletter and turning those people who come to visit your website into buying customers, that is the key.

Hi There! And welcome to another video…

Inside this video I want to talk about something that is very, very close to my heart. Something that I’ve been struggling with for at least four years. And I say struggle in a light kind of way because I only struggled with it the first two and a half years of my career online. After that point, I figured it out and I didn’t struggle anymore. That’s what I want to share with you today.

The number one biggest problem that new business owners or all business owners have on the internet is to get highly qualified traffic to their sites.

This is one of the most tricky things to do because it’s one thing getting traffic to your site but it’s another thing getting really good, highly qualified, traffic to your site that will eventually convert into leads and convert into sales. If you don’t have that traffic you don’t have a business. It’s as simple as that, you don’t have a business online.

What I want to share with you today inside this video is one way that you can drive tons of traffic to your site. This is a way that I’ve been using for the last two years to help me get tons of traffic to my site, to help build my leads, and to eventually help turn those leads into buying customers. These are customers that spend money with me and help me run my business.

What am I talking about? The thing that I discovered… or let me backtrack a little bit.

My first ever project was selling an ebook online that was about four years ago. And once again my number one struggle there was not creating the product, not creating the marketing materials, it was getting traffic. Once I had all those things done. Just getting highly qualified traffic to my site. Initially I had a bit traffic but then it died down and it was really hard for me to get traffic.

So I did a lot of research, a lot of mucking around and eventually came to find out that online video, especially YouTube these days, is an amazing source of traffic. If you ignore it your leaving a lot of money on the table, a lot of customers, and a lot of traffic.

What I want to share with you is basically this, you need to get into YouTube. YouTube is the second biggest search engine on the internet right now. That’s huge! They are getting two billion views a day, that’s last time I looked maybe it’s even more by now. The point is that they are huge and if you’re not using them as a traffic generation strategy you’re losing out.

I’ve been using YouTube now for the last two years and also online video in general to help me drive heaps of traffic back to my site. This is one of the best ways to drive traffic to your site because not only do you get the traffic and they’re highly qualified, but when people watch your videos and they come to your site, they already kind of know you. Just like you’re watching this video right now, you’re thinking, “I kind of know Gideon”, “I’ve seen what he’s like”, “I know what his personality is like”, “I know he does funny things with his hands”, “I know he’s got a bit of a receding hairline”, or whatever. You can actually see me and that builds rapport and that’s what’s so powerful about video.

Why Your Videos Suck Most Of The Time And How You Can Fix Them

A while ago I sent out an email to my subscriber list and got a very interesting response back from an old friend. I was a little surprised at his response at first, but then realized that he was actually helping me out a great deal to be more successful with what I do.

When you get to a certain level in your profession or calling, you become so “advanced” in your knowledge and experience that you often forget the basics of what it is that makes you truly successful.

And this is the thing that my old friend pointed out to me.

So the other day, I sent an email add to my newsletter list and I got an email back from an old friend. It was my old professor from my University days. He’s always very direct and he says a thing how it is and he doesn’t mince with words.

Basically what he sent to me was saying that, “What’s in it for me?” So he responded to the email that I sent to my newsletter—because he’s on my newsletter as well and because he’s probably trying to see my progress and see how I’m doing. But he said, “What’s in it for me?” He read my message and he got the impression that there was nothing in it for him as he read the message.

And you know, that got me thinking because I’ve been doing marketing now for many, many years and yet as I send that message, that didn’t cross my mind that I should be thinking about what was in it for the person reading that message.

I think that’s one of the easiest things to forget in marketing. And that is to think about what’s in it for your audience. And I wanted to create this video and tell you about it because when you create your video, you really need to think about that too and you need to totally kind of forget about yourself and your own desires and interests and think about what’s in it for your viewer-for the person watching your video. How can you create your video, so that when people watch it, they think that is what I want to watch and that is what I associate with and that information is really useful to me or that information is really entertaining to me?

Whatever it is, put yourself in the shoes of your audience, of your viewer and think about what’s in it for them. What can you create so that when they watch your video they’ll think you’ve created it specifically for them?

When you think about this sort of thing, when you think about creating your video, think about creating it for one specific person-one specific type of person. And when you do go hit and create your video speak to that one person—like I’m speaking to you now.

Speak to that one person only because when you think about, when people watch your videos online, it’s not like the big movies or big opera or a big show. There’s only one person watching your video at a time so they sit in front of the computer. There’s only one person watching the video at a time. So for all intents and purposes, you’re only speaking to one person. That’s why you need to think what’s in it for that one specific person and then talk to the person on the other side of the screen.

So I just wanted to share that with you. That was from my old professor. He’s name is Pete Bergman. Pete, if you’re watching this, thank you so much. It was really a good tip and it just really got me thinking again to think about the basics. You know, this is really the basics and it’s so easy to forget about what’s in it for your audience and to just focus on yourself.

So forget about yourself and think about what’s in it for your audience.
