The Power Of Repetition – Insights Into Freedom Series, Part 1

Freedom, anyone?

If you were given the key to achieving freedom – be it personal, financial, emotional freedom or in any other areas of your life and career – wouldn’t you grab the opportunity to have and keep it?

This video is the first part of my Insights Into Freedom Video Series where I share my personal experiences, the ups and downs in my journey through life and business. In this series, I reveal the insights that made me a master of my craft and allowed me to get the freedom that I enjoy. It was not an easy road, but it’s definitely worth all the years of learning.

I have created this video series so you can follow what I did right, avoid my mistakes and make informed decisions. Oh, and perhaps in the process, you may be able to share some insights into your own freedom.

Inside this first video, the insight that I talk about has to do with conditioning your mind and body by doing something consistently and correctly until you become an expert at it. This simple insight has a ton of power behind it.

Please leave your comments and let me know about your take on the insight about the Power Of Repetition.

Talk soon!

  11. [..YouTube..] @GideonShalwick Thanks! Very cool, I dabbled a little with heavier programs like Adobe AE, Apple Final Cut Pro, etc.. I found them to be too timeconsuming and heavy, so I´ll have to wait to get my own video editor for those kinda effects then. :) iMovie and Screenflow is easier and does a good job, and will do for now. BTW: Looking forward to your insights!! Thanks!

  13. GideonShalwick

Yeah ScreenFlow rocks for the most part – I still use it for real quick videos.

  14. JonathanPDenney

Nice work Gideon! Taking these videos to the next level I see. I’m setting up a studio with the white background this week, like you suggested, and I want to find the most time-effective way to visually represent my points. I’m going to test between using Keynote for animations, along with Screenflow to capture it, or After Effects with Premiere. Do you find the time involved in creating animations in after effects worth it?

  15. GeeAus

Good vid, Look forward to more :)

i recall reading a meta analysis of studies on human performance. The golden rule of becoming an ‘expert’ at something was repeating it at least one hour a day for five years. Anything beyond that was a case of diminishing returns. So when someone claims they have thirty years experience, just remember they’ve five years repeated six times.

  17. Guachapeli

Gracias por los videos gratuitos que nos ofreces

  18. reg5566

It is so true… We need to do this in every aspect of our lives… I would love it you teach us on those cool info-titles that flash behind you. But tanks again for your insight…

  19. marcluc1988

I’m sure he has a video where he tells you how to do it.

  20. PrimalToad1

Repetition forms habits good or bad!!

  21. GideonShalwick

Hey Jonathan! The time thing is not relevant for me anymore since I now have a full time video editor. But if I were to do it myself, I probably would not bother with making it too fancy.

  22. compellingtv

Nice job Gideon. Sweeet outro ad as well 😉

  23. GideonShalwick

so true! so part of the challenge is to figure out which activities to be repeating for getting that success/freedom! Great extra insight – thanks!

  24. GideonShalwick

Hey Reg – I wish I could teach you those effects – but currently they are all done by my great video editor. Maybe he could create a tutorial on it at some point. Would you be interested in that?

  25. GideonShalwick

thanks! Lets see if it works :)

  26. GideonShalwick

ah very interesting additional insight! I remember from reading Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell that he mentioned 10,000 hours needed for becoming a world expert! I think that takes about 5 years at 40hrs per week?

  27. This idea is exactly why I quit playing Guitar Hero… I got so good at it in 2 weeks that one day it dawned on me, “holy crap, you can get really good at something if you do it for a few hours each day”… it made me feel like an idiot for not using all that time on something productive or a skill that could actually benefit me.

  28. WOW did you life in South Africa Gideon? Can you speak Afrikaans?

Some Afrikaans “die web blad is fantasties”

    • Gideon Shalwick

  33. Repetition is also how you learn to play guitar! By the way are you using a plugin to display the Youtube Subscription option in the sidebar or is that from Youtube?

  34. radotrenco

Great video Gideon. Thank you. I have shared it with our group as an introduction to you and your talk at Public Speaking Secrets Revealed Group Brisbane on 24.8.2011.

  35. yourmembersite

Exactly what I needed. I’m starting my video blogging career and I’ve already started to struggle after not seeing any kind of traffic to my website after 3 videos posted.. Just keep on making videos I guess.

  39. ericsurf6

    Great advice Gideon! Thanks…

  40. I have mixed feelings about repetition. It’s good if you have a coach and you are repeating good technique to make them a habit or second nature. However to repeat an activity over and over again, may lead no where quickly or take longer to accomplish desired results.

  41. softsurfaces

All your thumbnail photos of the videos look great. How do you get them like that?? Also I need new subscribers and people to like my videos?? In return I will like videos back and subscribe bk
