I would not bother with free programs too much. I’ve learned some pretty tough lessons about that in the past.

I wish VisualHub was still around, cos then I would just recommend them. And I wish they had a version for both PC and Mac.

But Xilisoft should do a pretty good job still.

Success at last! Finally had some time to get this sorted!
Although it just about did my head in, I feel very happy to have it all work out.

There was no way I could have done it without your help Gideon! Thank you so much for your thorough tutorials, the amount of detail is fantastic and it’s nearly impossible to go wrong with them!

So far I’ve only uploaded mov files to get used to using the programs. The biggest file is 43MB, 12 minute screen capture video. I have to grab Xilisoft to do file conversions which will be next on my list of purchases unless I find a free option that fits the bill.

It really depends on your broadband plan.

Make sure you check the “upload” speeds in particular with your provider – that can often be A LOT slower than your download speeds.

Also, I’m assuming you’re uploading video files that’s been exported to a smaller, compressed size right?

How big are your files?

Thanks to your suggestions/instructions I’ve managed to sort out S3 and Bucket Explorer.

This might be a silly question, sorry….is there any way in particular to speed up the upload process? I assume it’s determined by the size and format of the file but thought I’d ask just in case there was some technical adjustment I could make. I have a broadband Internet connection that is quite quick and stable.

Congrats on your success with SlideShare – it’s an awesome service!

You are right – I had both mov and flv files on my server at Amazon S3. For this particular case, I wanted to provide my audience with both the streaming flv file, as well as a downloadable version (mov) of the videos.

But you can really upload anything you like onto Amazon – it does not matter. But what does matter is how you present it to people on your blog (see the next video coming up for how to embed flash videos on your blog from Amazon S3…).

This is a very timely post for me Gideon as S3 is next on my list of things to do as I move closer to producing videos for my membership site. I must admit I was hoping I wouldn’t have to invest in any additional software but you make it look super easy with Bucket Explorer.

You showed the steps in locating the url of the video, how do you embed the video on a blog as opposed to simply putting up a link? Does Bucket Explorer give you the code for that as an alternative to a link just like YouTube does?

One more question if I may Gideon. I noticed you had .Mov as well as Flash files in your video folder at Amazon.
I’ve always thought .mov had to be converted to .flv before loading up. Not so???

OMG Gideon, you are an absolute ACE! I couldn’t make heads or tails even from the FAQs there!
I’ll get Bucket explorer now and I’ll show you when I get it onto my site, hopefully soon:)

I also want to make tutorials, jewellery making in my case and also not on YouTube etc.

I ended up using SlideShare last week, (first time too) and put it on Facebook, that was not a bad thing, I got some good comments there as well.

It was very funny, I got an email from SlideShare saying mine was the most talked about slideshow on Facebook and they were putting it on their home page…. Wow I thought… so I quickly went and had a look….and found 1 comment!!! I thought that was very funny LOL. Got a few more comments since:)
