I reckon you are right there. Although I have not analyzed Twitter myself. But it does seem like a great strategy to get some hotshot celebrities involved to spur the masses on - and has it!

Hey Michelle

One thing that worked for me was to create "mini projects" inside my major projects.

I would then be able to finish these little mini projects and get a sense of achievement from them.

The other thing that also worked for me when just starting out online was to do smaller projects first, before moving onto larger projects.

Larger projects are inherently more risky just because they take longer and are more complicated. And if you try to do too much too soon, you can feel rather overwhelmed and easily burn out, which is not good of course.

I think if you're in the content creation business, you should try and spend time on 3 main things mostly:

1. Product/Content creation
2. Marketing (i.e. getting more traffic)
3. Scaling (i.e. systematizing your business and duplicating your systems)

Then source everything else out if you can.

That's what works for me :)

I love the Beach Head Strategy... how it forces you to really think about what you're doing, so it doesn't just end up a hobby instead of a business.

Paradoxical as it is, if you were to go looking for venture capital in a business, these days they pretty much require that you already have a Beach Head Strategy in place, i.e. how you'll be able to enter the market and dominate. I wrote about this a couple of months back if you're interested:
http://juhotunkelo.com/?p=204

(I tried the video comment plugin but had a problem, probably at my end.. will try again with the next one ;)

Interesting.....do you think twitter used the beachead strategy with celebrities and Hollywood?

I say this because as cool as twitter is, its not really the type of product that strikes me as the type to blow up in the big way that it did all over the world - there were even articles about it while I was in Kenya.

Never heard of the beachhead strategy- I can officially say I learned something cool today :D

Gideon I was going to respond to the very detailed response you gave me on part two but for ease of navigation I'll respond here.

Thanks for your detailed reply and talking through the flywheel concept, I love that!

The holding back is to do with the question I raised on part two. I agree that you can't outsource the guts of the content but there are simple step by step tutorials required for something like setting up a reseller account. It's a simple task to me but there are about 50 steps and a newbie needs to know every single one of them. Producing a screen capture video is a simple action but when there are loads of these 'simple tutorials' to create, whoa I'm talking many many hours of work. I think I need a partner who LOVES to do screen capture videos....lol! It's not all about not enjoying the work but the huge amount of time involved.

Seriously, after connecting a few more dots from your video series and seeing your HH concept intersect with Yaro's, well that is one heck of a partnership. And I mean in terms of the skill set and passions you both have that complement each other. Finding a partner would be ideal but ideal is half my problem (well I should admit it's a lot of my problem).

I can outsource some of the step by step tutorials but if it's not my voice or a partner's then the 'relationship' I feel is lost with my tribe. I'm seeing I need to build the Eiffel tower and it's overwhelming in terms of the time it will take versus my eagerness to show people how to climb it. lol! There really is no way forward but one step at a time I think and if it takes longer than I desire then better it's done well than either not at all or worse, done poorly.

You've been a great help and I appreciate the one on one attention, you've gone above and beyond, thank you!

I can totally understand the focused leverage concept Gideon because I have a couple of them ready, willing and able to get me over the chasm and then some...pity I don't have the output under control! I'm missing quite a few opportunities due to being held up back at outputting the content but I'll work that out soon enough so I can keep the snowball (or beach ball lol!) rolling that I've started.

A great little series, thanks Gideon!
