If you’ve been following me, you’ll know how much I love FOCUS and the benefits it’s given me over the years.

Well, even though I’ve been a student and implementer of focus for a long time, this book has given me a TON of aha moments, and I’ve JUST started reading it a couple of days ago!

Go get yourself a copy now and lets read the book together – I’ll have a few more updates about it as I keep reading through the book and discover some more nice nuggets of wisdom!

oh very cool thanks +Jak N Blak! What did you like about it?

  3. Jason Jacques

I met Jay Papsan and heard him speak about this topic right when he
released the book. Very energetic guy.

  4. Jak N Blak

It was just a great 'reminder' video +Gideon Shalwick To trust in the process of doing what you're doing and know that the 'Domino' effect is at work. Your persistent effort will reap a strong result eventually.

Especially if you're learning from your mistakes & make changes as you move forward.

  5. Gideon Shalwick

+Jak N Blak That is sooo true! Thanks!

  6. Sybrand van Schalkwyk

Thanks Gideon. Always nice to hear your cutting edge thinking presented so
clearly and concisely. I look forward to walking this journey with you

  7. Team Sunshine Nu Skin

Good to be reminded of this and now to find the book for a full read.
    Good video Gideon

  8. DoctorBeau

Great vid and sharing about the power of being laser focused. So many times
in life we are always trying to capture the big picture, but having laser
focused actionable steps is what makes that big picture possible.

  9. Joey Kissimmee

Just got my copy brotha. Thanks for the recommendation. I love a good read

  10. Rickey Resch

I just finished reading that book too. I learned about it from the Madison,
Wisconsin REIA (Real Estate Investor Association) and got a free copy from
Keller Williams Realty which I’m trying to become a realtor. The author of
the book owns the realty company who’s name is Gary Keller, coauthored by
Jay Papasan. It’s a great book and I recommend it to anyone who wants to be
more productive and become better at time management. “Education is the
bedrock that all else rests on. The taller the building, the deeper the
    foundation.” ~Rick Resch

  11. Yaro Starak

Loving the book too G. Read it last year and reading it again now as you
know. I especially enjoyed the common assumptions the book took part – –
Multi-tasking doesn’t work (one task is always better)
    – Discipline is the key to success (wrong)
    – You have a finite amount of Willpower (so use it on the one thing)
    – Having a balanced life (counter-balancing continuously is key)

    Interesting stuff!

  12. Sergio Felix

Thanks for the recommendation Gideon, I haven’t read this but I’m getting
    this on my Kindle ASAP.

  13. Christopher Fox

You are so right! This is a great book. I have a copy and have read it
cover to cover. But, I encourage you to read a book called “My Next Step”
    by Dave Liniger.

It is an extraordinary journey of healing and hope. In the fight against a
life-threatening illness, Liniger relied on the goal-setting principles he
learned as a successful businessman and on life lessons. You can get a copy
    of Dave’s book at http://www.mynextstepbook.com.

After reading this book, you will understand why “nobody sells more real
    estate than RE/MAX”.

  14. Wish I Had Thought Of That

Thanks, Gideon. I’ve just read your Rapid Video Blogging report and have
been setting myself up with video equipment at home in Sydney for the last
month. As a freelance IT specialist & technical writer with lots of
experience working with different companies & industries, and I’m going to
focus on helping businesses – especially startups (like me) – with better
communication, and even asking the basic question “how’s business?”

I can produce videos superfast with my iPhone & smartLav now. It’s been a
long haul setting up equipment and with little return, but I hope to turn
that around very soon, thanks largely to your example, videos and advice.
Got a great web site name (ask me via anthonyengl at gmail.com).

  15. Gideon Shalwick

It's a really good one this +Lucy Walter! Glad to hear you found my talk great! Looking forward to connecting with you more :)

  16. Juho Tunkelo

I love this book, the most practically impactful book I read in all of
    last year.

  17. Jørn Falk

I have to reat that book – thanks for the idea

  18. Eva Bogard

This point to super focus on one narrow thing at a time made a lot of sense
to me, because I can see that the quality and effectiveness of the object
under scrutiny will be so much better and more valuable. Seems like using
this method will take me a much longer time to reach the point where I can
share/sell my products. What do you say about that?

  19. Gideon Shalwick

    Cheers +D'Arcy Mayo!

  20. Gideon Shalwick

Yes that's exactly it +Eva Bogard! Such a simple concept, but so hard to consistently do every day though! But this book is really giving some nice answers for me!

  21. Gideon Shalwick

Awesome – I did not realise the RE/MAX connection in full – thanks for the update +Christopher Fox!

  22. AimenTv5 ©

    Very entertaining video.

  23. expertsuccessacademy

Two new books have just come out on this topic too Gideon:

Focus: The Hidden Driver of Excellence by Daniel Goleman

Focus: Use Different Ways of Seeing the World for Success and Influence by
Heidi Grant Halvorson E Tory Higgins

Focus can be something of a paradox in that our “One Thing” can be a good
thing … as long as it does not “blind” us!

  24. Manualideas Fancylooks

Today I have a “gaussian blur” inside my mind and this has made me clear it
    up, thanks!

  25. Kurt Novak

I was surprised that you are actually reading a real estate book. The tips
are certainly good for any industry.

    • Gideon Shalwick

It's a real estate book? Are you sure? I know the author has a real estate connection, but the book seems to be applied for everyone dont you think?

    • Gideon Shalwick

See… THAT's why I need to come and visit the States more often lol! Thank you for the info about Gary. I'm not into real estate so I would not even know the top dawg in Australia (where I live) for that hah!

  26. Greg Moore

How can you not like this guy? He’s so easy on the nerves then in addition
he actually provides quantifiable advice! He’s fantastic!

    • Gideon Shalwick

      Who me?

  27. Leopold M Llonch

Thank you Gideon, I will order “The One thing today”. I would also like to
recommend a book, actually a manuscript for a book – “The Law of Success”
by Napoleon Hill. Yes, Hill wrote “Think and Grow Rich” however, it was an
abbreviated version of the manuscript because the publishers thought the
manuscript was too long. It seems as if Hill painstakingly reviewed every
word and it is evident that the manuscript is far better than the book.
    Thanks again for sharing!

  28. Kurt Novak

+Gideon Shalwick Gary Keller is the founder of Keller Williams Realty – one of the largest franchisers of real estate brokerages in the USA. He probably wrote it initially to motivate their more than 60,000 agents.

You are right – these principles can be applied to any business.

  29. Lisa Byrne

Gideon, i always enjoy your insight. This one strikes me strong as “focus”
is my word for 2014. thanks for the share.

  30. Pedro F

As stated in the book, focusing at one tiny little think at a time is key,
and in the internet marketing it is critical.

  31. Rohe Energie - Vegane Ernährung & Mehr

    Great tip! Thanks :-)

  32. Gabe Johansson

The book looks awesome and I could definitely use some tips on becoming
more focused. I’m great at being productive, but I feel like I’m a bit too
scattered. Also, good to see more videos from you and looking forward to

  33. Sharyn Williams

Thank you, Gideon — for your earlier encouragement . . . well worth the
watch 😉 Great comments — heading over to Amazon to pick up the book.

  40. Zen Runner

I really liked the format of this video – far more intimate than some of
your others. Great direction. I am now inspired to read this book. Mission
accomplished. Thanks for making and sharing! Go Gideon Go!

    by 10 past! 😉

  48. Angus McDonald

Great to see how you are focused on making a buck. Well done I have learnt
something. Second gem: Extraordinary Results Are Directly Determined By How
Narrow You Can Make Your Focus – quite true. But it needs action to make it
    come true.

  49. Gideon Shalwick

    Haha yeah totally!

  50. Gideon Shalwick

    No probs +SuperShahane!

  51. Gideon Shalwick

Thanks +Edmund Pelgen! It's a fantastic book! It's one of those books I will keep on referencing to in the future for sure! It's already on my top ten list, and I have read A LOT of business books!

  52. Tim Maynard

Thanks for the tip. I’ve been a subscriber since learning how to do the
white screen effect and always look forward to seeing the next video and
what ideas you have. I’ll have a look at the book but thought you might be
interested in a similar read: ‘Profit from the Positive’ by Margaret
    Greenberg and Senia Maymin.

    • Gideon Shalwick

Ah that sounds like an interesting read +Tim Maynard! Thanks for the recommendation!

  53. Ralph Clesca

Thanks for another valuable video Gideon! Sounds like a book I need, but I
better get myself in better health first, that’s my first focus!

    • Gideon Shalwick

Ah yeah – sounds like that should be your ONE thing to focus on first – all the best +CJ Grace!

  57. melher1234

if you don’t mind me asking. what is it that you do in specific?what is
that one thing? i look to the right and see a ton of video of you on
    different subjects? :)

  58. Julia Eggles

Thanks Gideon, having just seen your great talk at Matt and Liz’s program,
I thought Id check out more of your videos.. Ill get this book on my kindle
right now. thanks for the recommendation, always looking for a good, on
    purpose book.

  59. tisme

Great book, just finished it & laying down my lists tomorrow! Love
    synchronicity Gideon don’t you?-)

  60. Bunni Longwell

I have read the book twice. It is not only about business but about life.

  61. TechSupport100

Narrow focus –> extraordinary results. This is how a pickaxe breaks rock,
the reason that knives have sharp edges, and the way that a magnifying
glass starts a fire. Force or energy is being applied through a very small
    area of impact, or focus.

  62. DigiDesk

Garry Keller’s book “The One Thing” will be my next choice to read.

Here +Gideon Shalwick introduces the book, which is all about getting
    focused on THE RIGHT things!

    #focus #results #leverage

  63. Patrice Drago

Oh this is so timely!! And at the same time – so way overdue for me!
Thank you- I’m getting this book today!

Thank you! this video just put things in perspective for me!

  65. Krystyna Latsios

what is that one thing I did today that made a difference today.

  66. Kathleen McKay

    Thanks Gideon!

  67. Gideon Shalwick

I'm very impressed with the book so far – loving it!

  68. Gideon Shalwick

You're very welcome Boeta! Looking forward to our next catch up soon!

  69. Gideon Shalwick

wow you watched my video? hahha – yeah it was GOLD reading those assumptions. Even just the first few pages of the book gave me some great aha's! And as you know, I've been studying and implementing "focus" for years!

  70. Gideon Shalwick

ah great to hear – I'm about half way through now, and REALLY loving it! Great to see you hanging around +Juho Tunkelo!

  71. Gideon Shalwick

Nice – also get the physical copy – it's one of those books you need in physical form :)

  72. Gideon Shalwick

Oh why thank you! Why do you think it was entertaining? I created the whole thing on my iPhone, so I'd love to know why you thought it was entertaining +AimenTv5 ©

  73. AimenTv5 ©

Your voice is pleasant. The book is awesome. The video is slick :)

  74. Gideon Shalwick

    Perfect! Thanks!

  75. Gideon Shalwick

haha that a great way of putting it +Manualideas Fancylooks!

  76. Gideon Shalwick

Hey +Leopold M Llonch! Ah yes – the Law Of Success by Nap Hill is OUTSTANDING! I've read it a few times now. It has been instrumental to my own success! Thanks for letting everyone else know about it too! Such an awesome book!

  77. Gideon Shalwick

You're very welcome +Sharyn Williams! I only share things that I think are valuable and useful to my audience :)

  78. Gideon Shalwick

Hey +Gabe Johansson! Yes! That is the key… to know what THE RIGHT thing is to work on at any given moment. It's easy to be "productive" and getting things done… but it's not very easy getting THE RIGHT things done :)

  79. Gabe Johansson

Agreed, and that's not to mention over complicating things. That's way too easy to do haha

  80. Gideon Shalwick

Man! How awesome is THAT +tisme! Awesome stuff! What are your thoughts about it so far?

  81. Gideon Shalwick

Hmmm… I think I am more focussed on providing value to my audience. If I do that in the right way, "making a buck" is a natural outcome :) And yes, I totally agree with the action part for sure!

  82. Gideon Shalwick

Do you have an iPhone or other kind of smartphone? That might be easier for the kind of videos you are creating for real estate.

PS: It might be a good idea to NOT use CAPS for your whole comment – Google might think it's spam 😉

  83. Victor Alonso

Thank you very much. Sorry about the caps.
    I don't have iPhone, I have a Galaxy.

  84. Victor Alonso

I wanted to use my GoPro but it takes too much memory.

  85. Gideon Shalwick

My one thing will become more apparent to you over the next 12 months :)

  86. Gideon Shalwick

    Oh yeah synchronicity ROCKS!
