  3. Let's Go Road Trippin

    Answer to the question for me is no. I am in the midst of a
    re-organization of my channel to support my business, rather than just post
    travel videos. This weekend I start with a live stream with travel news,
    reviews, stories, and more. I am excited, and you are the reason I am
    making these changes. I appreciate the videos, and I am learning a lot,
    and taking them in to help my channel be more productive with the business.

    Hi Gideon,
    Very true what you are saying about the ‘right’ kind of traffic.
    The company that I work for paid for a month of Facebook advertising (just
    before Facebook changed their news feed policy) to increase the number of
    likes.
    So, the likes shot up within that month, but it amounted to nothing to be
    honest because that new ‘popularity’ were people just idly clicking on
    ‘like’ after being force-fed an advert, RATHER than a lead genuinely
    interacting with some content that they found useful. Brand visibility does
    NOT equate to brand loyalty.
    You must attract the specific target customer to increase revenue, as you
    pointed out.

    A second thought, if you don’t mind….
    Have you made a conscious business decision to kind of downgrade (that’s
    probably the wrong word) the production values of your videos for 2014?
    That’s really not meant as an insult. I’m sure I”m not the only subscriber
    thinking that you have purposefully made a decision to appear less slick
    and high quality as in your videos of late 2013. Did you feel that ‘super
    slick production’ vibe was moving too far away from your target market and
    you wanted to appear more ‘human’? :)

    sales than my current one. Previously, I was able to target people who were
    in the buying mindset. Currently, I’m not selling anything but my list
    building is going much slower overall than before. I’m going to have to

    don’t really know what my target is… maybe creative people? But how can
    one know what kind of creative people will you better get in touch with? By
    looking at which ones of your videos have the most views and positive
    comments and centering around that area the rest of your videos, by being

    Something happened to me and which proves how right you are in your “kind
    of audience” remark. I was thinking about it when I was watching that video
    and connecting this with what you say.
    I have a t-shirt shop in Etsy and I had two YouTube friends, female and
    male, that wanted to help me promote it just by giving them the t-shirt the
    will show in their video.
    The female friend had and beauty and make up channel of about 3,000
    subscribers. She showed the t-shirt, in a video, shared the link to my shop
    and during the next 3-6 days the visits to my shop grew like mad.. I had no
    sale but that was wonderful, attracting so many people.
    The male friend has a very good channel full of all kind of videos all
    about very interesting themes, mostly about how to feel good about yourself
    and how to get the most out of YouTube, and a great number 40,000
    subscribers. He showed the t-shirt, shared the link to my shop and that day
    and the next days I noticed a slight raise in the visits to my shop, but
    not much.
    It is funny that the male channel got more great comments about the t-shirt
    he showed than the female channel, but much less effect in attracting
    people to my shop. Things don’t work the way you imagine they work.
    Thinking about what kind of audience each one attracted, I realized why
    things happened the way they happened. My male friend channel attracts
    people, mainly young men, who are looking for the easy life, opportunity
    and earning money through Youtube.
    My female friend attracts women that are eager to buy the last cosmetic
    product out there, the newest beauty and fashion trend, more centered in
    spending money rather that in earning it … which is more like what my
    male friend’s audience looks for.
    I hope you find any interest in this example. You share a lot of tips with
    us, I hope this experience can be of any interest to you

    generate some income from views because (other than Affiliate products) I
    really do not have anything to sell… and we all know how difficult it is
    to get folks to buy Affiliate products from a banner ad or link in a
    YouTube description or on my website…but that’s a whole different
    discussion…. I have so many ideas for channels and unique content but
    nothing to sell….is it a waste of time to pursue this strategy?

    Thanks Gideon for getting us to think about the #1 issue and that is who
    are we Targeting and followed by the #2 criteria of Do they have the money
    to buy what you are offering. I guess I find it a little more difficult to
    stay with you in all cases on the 3xF examples but the principal is totally
    sound about the central message of the sweet spot.

    My own thoughts coming from Business Strategy perspective would be “does it
    solve their problem or satisfy a need?” “Will it make a profit or save
    costs for the buyer” “Is it different in some way to what is already out
    there?”

    But another great video and it has got me thinking and that is the most
    valuable benefit of all.

    Gideon, I have come back to provide positive feedback, with response to
    your last e-mail.

    In your video you are soo right. I applaud you for your message, education,
    and efforts. Haters are just jealous. They do not understand what you
    understand. And only through applying what you are talking about can they
    learn. If making money only via YouTube is their source, then it is good to
    aim at any kind of view. However, if you sell or offer a product service by
    which on can make even more money, your message is king.

    But for all others, more views can lead to more haters/trolls. Along with
    that come negative feedback/messages, things that can pull down one’s
    motivation. Running a channel should be fun, uplifting, creative, and a
    thing to look forward too. Chris Pirillo along with other senior YouTubers
    commented that when dealing with haters/trolls…depending on the
    message…to just ignore, block, delete them. Other’s even thank them for
    their negative feedback and ask for them to share their hate on social
    media to let others know why. This is like using evil to advertise for you.
    (Hahaha-[insert evil laugh here]) Yeah, like:

    {Dear troll; thank you for your ‘hate-on-me message’. Could you please do
    me the favor of going to your social media accounts, and letting the rest
    of your world know how you feel about me? Thanks, with lots of love, your
    admiring friend, Mr. Me.
